I saw two cop cars run a stop sign the other day |
|
The same one I got nailed for back in February (if I recall correctly the date).
No sirens, no rush to get anywhere, they were turning right, no other traffic and they never came to a complete stop. Pretty much the same situation I was in when I did it.
And what could I do about it? Nothing.
It feels the same with bush and crew in office. They can just go and do crazy shit and we see it going down but all we can do is watch and realize that if it was us doing the same things we would get a ticket, be thrown in jail, whatever.
The problem is that the people with power make AND enforce the rules while the everyday folks like us can only observe and complain about it when they break the rules.
Impeachment is off the table to some?
We throw people in jail for all kinds of things like smoking pot, etc, and yet impeaching someone who is responsible for so much more damaging to our country and our troops is something that is debated and rebuked by some.
"If you are caught speeding don't bitch about the fact you got a ticket..." and so on - we hear from people all the time that if you do something wrong and are caught just suck it up and deal with it.
Ok, I can deal with that - when it is applied equally to all based on the same logic.
Screw politics. bush is a criminal as are his cronies. To not even attempt to have hearings on it all seems a terrible miscarriage of justice.

2. Well, there is the ideal world...and there is the real one. Most of us have to live in the real one |

I don't know any way to soften that blow. ;-)

Don't know any way to soften that blow, either. :)

Start changing things. It will be slow, but well worth the effort.

5. And yet we have absolutely no idea who the new occupant of 1600 Pa. Ave. will be. |
|
I was certain before and up to December 2000 that George W. Bush would never live there.

6. Police often need to move quickly to a call unobtrusively |
|
...and may not necessarily use lights unless there's actual oncoming traffic that needs to be warned.

8. and sometimes we just don't come to a complete stop |
|
even though we should. We're human and not perfect drivers.
Statistically, we are MUCH safer drivers than the general public - even considering the amount of time we are running lights/siren (which is inherently dangerous).
Now sure they MAY have been responding to a hot call, and had didn't want their lights/siren on due to proximity (stealth approach). I've been in that situation 100's of times.
Or not
God only knows.
I do know that if I am in a collision, I am held to a higher standard by my dept. than a civilian is in terms of determining fault. I also know that (as stated) we have MUCH lower collision rates despite having to multitask while driving - looking for suspects, etc. looking at computer screen, talking on radio, etc.)
but yes. life sucks. two cops rolled through a stop sign. clearly a sign of a horrible police state and I'm glad you are so vigilant in ferreting out this rampant reckless assholery :)

7. How do you know what these officers were doing? |
|
There are three levels of response for officers in CA.
Code 1: At your convenience, low priority. Code 2: Priority call with some urgency, but no lights and siren activated. Code 3: Emergency, lights and siren.
Instead of assuming you know, might it not be wise to assume you do not know what these officers were doing?
It sounds like you might have witnessed these officers responding Code 2.

give people shit for anything that I did. This is most likely why I will never be a cop, actually.

10. Isn't America Grand. We have a Government that we answer too and work for. |
|
And they answer to no one and only work for their self interests or the interests of their croonies. It feels like it's too late, it feels like no matter who gets elected they will take our money and our children and if we complain or resist we will end up in prison not them.
