Poll question: Do you believe that Obama/McCain are neck and neck?
I'm just curious about people's perceptions.
The MSM, polls and pundits are certainly presenting this reality.
I'm just curious if you are buying?

9. While I'm not an avid Obama supporter, but he's going to walk away with it.
All he has to do is run as the "not a Republican" to waltz into the White House...after the necessary fumigation.

4. most polls even the tracking polls have Obama ahead and state polls
show him doing well in most blue states (even Michigan he's doing better than what was Kerry's final victory margin of 4-pts according to the poll of polls), and doing better than dem nominees have done in many years in some key red states. Now if McCain were really tied with Obama or even a point or so ahead he would have to be doing better than the state polls indicate he is doing in these red states.

yard signs, bumper stickers, the size of crowds the two men are drawing, etc., I'd say Obama's about 20-25 points ahead.

8. Easier to steal
The Republican controlled Media manipulates the polls to make citizens think the race is closer than it really is. That way, it won't seem too outrageous when they steal another one.

21. And a "likely voter" is someone who has voted before, so they are IGNORING
all the new registrants.

Still, the "neck and neck" meme makes me VERY nervous b/c it sets up McCain to "win by a nose" (ie. by Diebold stealing the election for him). :scared:

in bellwethers like Missouri say?

Missouri has voted for the eventual loser only once since 1900.

15. I think it is very close.
I still think Barack may break away but he hasn't yet. The debates will be crucial. Obama is a phenomenal speaker but in a debate setting he retreats too often to sound-bites and is too cautious. Expectations for McCain will be so low that if he doesn't fall off the stage he will be declared the winner. I have been a political junkie since Ike vs. Adlai and my political vibes at the moment are a little discouraging. I also have never seen a presidential candidate given such a free ride by the press as has John McCain. It is astonishing.

in the debates of 2004, and tell me how "crucial" debates are. This is just a media lie prepping for the cheat that's coming.

19. Lol. Hi LWolf. Well that's certainly another category of the 'electorate'
that should be included in this poll.

It would read, "MSM? Campaign? Not Interested."

30. As astonishingly large number of people...
...still believe the myths they get in their email or from their friends. Most people still haven't paid close enough attention to know the truth about either candidate, and sadly, most never will.

Never overestimate the intelligence of a public that made it close enough for W to capture two presidential elections, or that still has a sizable percentage of people who believe that Saddam was responsible for 9-11, or that we found the WMD.

People in here pay attention. People out there don't. The message has to be in ten foot letters on a daily basis for months before it sinks in to enough voters.

Always run like you're ten points behind, no matter what the polls say.

31. There is no doubt they are close.
The rightist main stream media has unleashed an unprecedented biased campaign against Obama, which will swing undecided voters not necessarily for McCain, but against Obama. Also Obama's recent turn to the right probably has affected Democratic voters as well.

And it's not JUST polls. It's the whole MSM fabricated 'reality'.
