Luke Russert to Join NBC News
July 31, 2008, 3:25 pm
NBC Hires Luke Russert as a Correspondent
By Brian Stelter

The late “Meet the Press” moderator Tim Russert’s imprint will remain with NBC News for some time to come: his son Luke will serve as a correspondent at large for the network.
The elder Mr. Russert, 58, died of a heart attack on June 13. He frequently mentioned Luke, his only son, in television appearances.
The younger Mr. Russert’s first assignment will be at the Democratic National Convention in Denver at the end of August and at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul at the beginning of September. A 2008 Boston College graduate, he will focus on youth issues for NBC.

10. I think most of us know how it feels because we've all seen it
it sucks and is hugely detrimental to morale.....but really, no one minds if they just get in line, we all know how the real world works. But we want some measure of fairness.

3. Wonder what all the long time NBC reporters think about this?
There are probably capable people with NBC who have been toiling in obscurity for years, for a fraction of the salary that this pampered poodle is going to receive. My guess is this is going to lead to hard feelings and internal turmoil at the network. Oh well.

5. Fuck that.
Let him start at a TV station somewhere in the broccoli, like everyone else, covering auto accidents and county board meetings. Elite, lucky sperm club bullshit.

8. Good luck, Luke.
You can see here what sort of things are going to be said about you.

I hope you make us all proud.

Personally I think we need a real-life college-age person at the conventions.

13. Perhaps we do . . .
And what uniquely qualifies Luke Russert to be the voice of "real-life college-age" person at the convention? Is it a sterling resume of perspicacious reporting? An unequalled record of public service? Or simply a shrewd choice of fathers?

16. "Luke...I am your father!" Tim Russert said.
That was just before Russert fell down the reactor shaft while trying to kill a Democrat.
