Amusing letter in Minneapolis paper regarding 2008 Republican Convention
The Minneapolis Star Tribune ran an article yesterday about several local bars and restaurants in the Twin Cities area that are booked for private parties during the Republican Convention in St. Paul and will be completely off limit to locals. Today, this letter appeared in the Strib:

Thanks for the heads up - we may not be able to get a beer or have dinner out while the Republican National Convention
is in St. Paul ("GOP's partying may push out locals", March 7).

But one place sure to be wide open is the Science Museum.

1. And the Planetarium.
They don't want to find out that a flat Earth is not the center of the Universe.

2. Another thing is that MPLS is not exactly a sin city
so they'll have to be busing in the hookers again.

3. I think we should surround the Gay 90s and make sure we have cameras
to photograph everyone going in there during the convention.

5. Isn't the actual convention being held in St. Paul?

I would love to see any repubs try going to any bars in Uptown or South MPLS for that matter. I foresee massive protests.

7. Yep, St. Paul at the Xcel Center
Most the places mentioned in the article were in the downtown areas and mainly Minneapols (well, it it the Minneapolis paper). I think they mentioned someplace in one of the 'burbs, but I can't remember what it was.
