The perfect crime.. Shock Doctrine USA! We've been had. It's over folks.
Bush is looting the entire country. He created this crisis on purpose. The private equity firms are eating things up right now. Banks, mortgages, pension funds, public property.. EVERYTHING!

Governors are going to have to put everything up for sale. Roads, bridges, airports, schools, libraries, everything.

Even the police and fire will be privatized.

Grover Norquist has won.

The beauty of the mortgage crisis, is that it depletes the property tax revenue. That's why they will get everything. Not enough taxes to save them.

Carlyle, and the groups will steal the country for pennies on the dollar.

Even if we win the WH, it will be too late. Everything will be up for sale.

The antrax story is a message. "Say one word about what we are doing and we will kill you".. And it's working..

Will NOBODY stand up and tell the American people what's happening?

Silence.

I'm not focusing on anything else but this from now on.

George W. Bush is not stupid. He is an extreme right-wing ideologue.

From "The Art of War",
If you are wise, make them think you are stupid. If you are strong, make them think you are weak. If you are competent, make them think you are incompetent. Not an exact quote, but you get the gist.

90. Bush *is* stupid.
That's largely why he's in the Oval Office. He's Reagan, v.2.0. An empty-headed, empty suit to strut for the cameras while the same old Reaganites and Nixonites run the same old plays.

How easy he must be to manage. Just play to his enormous ego and and let him think he's making the decisions. Many have remarked on how incurious GW Bush is.

You know how Cheney chose himself for the VP spot? I expect that was the tone of the entire presidency. An idiot, strutting about and thinking he's in charge of it all, when in reality his handlers are presenting him with only the options they find acceptable.

8. China and Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and other sovereign wealth funds
are big money sources for these private equity groups. And that is the money that was fleeced off the US consumers in purchasing gas and crapola: the money will not come back in balanced trade but as vulture capital investments. And the public won't have a cow cause the source of the cash is hidden, privately.

Eat some chocolate or hard cheese before you go to sleep, if you please :)

10. Yeah, yeah yeah. So what comes NEXT?
I've talked about this as well, but my theory has always been that the forces involved in bringing down the government were at least international if not foreign, because the US nation state will not WORK with everything privatized. I mean it could, if you had a free market but that's not what will happen. The corporations involved in the takeover will give themselves power over the market to stay on top, which is what governments do. They will ensure their cut of smaller company profits, which is what governments do. So does what exactly changes?

Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 12:57 AM by napoleon_in_rags
why not go all the way? Some might say this country has been an oligarchy for some time, in that while we are given choices, our options seem very limited, even controlled. Could it be that an illusion of democracy is more effective at controlling at the masses than an overt authoritarian presence? In some ways that is more scary a path. We could already be authoritarian, have been for some time, or just be rounding the corner now, but we'd never see it, we'd just find ourselves in an invisible system of control.

edit: I need to post more on this thread, just to get some stuff out of my head. (which I do by writing feel free to ignore) The Architect from one of the Matrix movies was an incredible symbol of control:

"The Architect redesigned the Matrix to reflect human history and culture, but it still failed. The solution to this problem was discovered by the Oracle: a version of the Matrix that gave humans the unconscious choice of accepting it. This version was accepted by nearly 99% of all test subjects."

When I think of Repubs standing up and talking about Al Qaeda being international, well financed, bent on destroying our liberties, it always sounds to me like they are describing themselves. Perhaps this isn't a mistake; it might be that they must say what it is or the "Matrix" can be subconsciously accepted, or else the whole thing falls down.

I know people who are not tinfoil aficionados who are genuinely afraid that the government is reading each and every one of their emails, like really good friends and family. People from different groups that do not overlap. Yet these same people will also tell you that we live in a free and democratic society. Go figure.

76. Yeah, that's the power of the unconscious acceptance
It allows them to believe that the duality has always existed, that the government always read people's letters and went through their things because they can believe that it was always subconsciously accepted, never overtly acknowledged. So the 4th amendment lies in the realm of the overtly acknowledged "freedom" while the government surveillance programs exist in the realm of the covertly acknowledged totalitarian state.

29. Everything must go.
It's an out-of-business sale w/steep discounts & great deals for the hedge funds. Desperation means the business will cut prices far below even what they paid wholesale. They're even selling the shelves & the doors of the store to try to break even. So a fund can by the products, the infrastructure, the entire business for pennies on the dollar. And the business doesn't even realize that the buyer was the one who drove them to bankruptcy in the first place.

32. serendipity now
Much like the Seinfeld episode which featured the phrase 'serenity now' in the book 'The power of positive thinking' Norman Vincent Peale wrote that we often make ourselves unhappy by worrying about things which have not happened yet and oftentimes which never will happen.

Your OP is hard to refute, being about the future rather than the past or present. Your comment about the anthrax story does not fit though, since Ivins was not saying anything, was he? Maybe I should read some of those anthrax threads.

"Never hurry, never worry."

Once in a hotel room I was fixing a tiny garbage can that was overflowing. My dad said 'don't worry about that'. I replied 'I am not worrying. I am doing something about it.'

Just thievery on a grand scale. These are the greatest thieves in the history of the world, in 8 years they have stolen everything not nailed down, and managed to smash much that they couldn't pry up.

There will be no universal health care, not for a while at least. The country is broke, Norquist has won indeed, for now.

42. They've been extremely competent
A few mistakes here and there but no major set backs to speak of.

The illusion of Democracy should be lifted soon, maybe then we'll have the numbers to confront them...maybe not.

43. Their method of control is doomed to failure though
When things get bad enough their lies won't work anymore. There will be either peaceful or bloody revolution. That's my hope anyways.... whether it takes a couple of hundred years or a couple of decades is the real question though.

And personally I'm not going to be a part of it. Liberty thrives in other parts of the world, and I'm going to go to one of those parts. The wife and I are "other" anyways. We've spent our whole lives hearing about how we don't really belong and aren't wanted. I'm not bitter... just don't care anymore :hi:

Keeping the masses satisfied for the moment. I don't think we'll be running out of circus any time soon, but I'm getting pretty low on "bread" myself.

51. So can this crime be stopped?
What can people do to prevent a total meltdown in banking, housing, infrastructure?

Maybe it's too late to stop it?

What should be done to prepare for it?
stock up on canned goods, can opener?
buy a bicycle?
have cash at home?
pay off loans?

54. The only sure way is to kick out the Federal Reserve -
almost all of our debt is interest owed to the FR. Seriously. Enact Presidential Order #11110 (JFK) and take back the mint. Viola! Everyone is paid off (bonds) and we can have a functioning gov't again. All roads and fingers point to the FR.

60. Yes, but it is not llikely to happen.
The solution is simple, but far too scary for the sheeple to contemplate, we just have to refuse to play anymore. Their power, wealth, everything, comes from our willingness to do as they tell us.

Where are they going to go, really? Everywhere outside our borders, there are people of all kinds of nationalities ready to drag these people to the Hague. And on our soil, we have citizens ready to make citizen's arrest which will become national heroes for doing it. I mean, really. What were they thinking?

69. Don't be fooled--November will settle nothing
No matter who wins the "powers that be" will still be the powers that count. It will take years to dissassemble the disaster BushCo has created and no one should think for a second that the bad guys are going to somehow just give up, even if we get the White House AND control both Houses and put good guys on the Supreme Court and all the rest.

Like the Terminator, they will just keep on coming and coming because that is all they know how to do. On Inaugeration Day, a really appropriate event to celebrate the election of our guy would be to have Bush, Cheney and company arrested on the spot and sent to Guantanamo Bay.

Won't happen but that's the level of thing that will HAVE to happen if there is to be any chance of rebuilding this Country as a nation of laws, and a law abiding nation, not a rogue state in the service of the corporations.

71. The scope of the scam is massive,
and the results are truly devastating.

I must be naive, because I can't understand how people could do this... It will destroy the country. Why would they want that? The answer to that is something I can't get my head around...

... and I'm naive enough to keep thinking (or hoping) something will happen or someone will step in to stop the crimes in progress and prevent the worst from happening. (but we'll still be in a world of hurt)

78. Stay calm and take heart
The big pendulum of life has swung it's full arc to the right and is now about to start it's swing to the left. When it reaches the far left we will have nationalized most of the industries that are "taking over" anyway. So the privatization will have backfired and made it easier for the government to pick up health care and all insurance etc.

Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 10:42 PM by mvd
There seems to be a conspiracy that's completely behind the curtain. Even some Democrats like Pelosi have acquiesced. Even the ball parks have been corporatized - I went to Citizens Bank Park tonight to watch a Phils game, and some bad signs - small seats with little leg room, no stand concessions, far away food stops that charge high prices with long lines.. even the look and feel was more corporate.

Nobody did anything about it. On 09/10/01 2.3 Trillion dollars goes missing at the Pentagon. Nothing is done about it. They attack us on 9/11. Nobody is held accountable. Pallets of money goes missing in Iraq. Nothing is done about it. All they have to do is attack the internetS and shut it off and were all fucked. No money from the banks, no gas, no real communication to find out what is going on in the world. Stores will be looted, mass hysteria in the streets. And thats just the internet. We rely on computers for everything now. How can you prove you have money in the bank? Statements won't tell them anything. All their info is on the computer. Now everybody is broke. How's that gonna work? And you can't tell me that they spend 12 Billion a month in Iraq.
