Bush is Joan's Polaroid camera!
I was watching "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches" on Letterman the other day and, for some reason, I thought of "Joan", a co-worker from the early 1970s who came to work one day with her new prize, one of those compact Polaroid cameras, I think they called it the "SX 70", but am not sure. Joan immediately assembled us for a group photo. She snapped the picture and asked for patience as she removed the exposed print from the camera, shaking it to dry. The photo was blurred! "Some of you moved!" was Joan's excuse, as she posed us to try again. Funny, I didn't see anyone moving, but I kept my mouth shut. "Snap!" the shutter went off and Joan repeated her removal and shaking ritual, only to reveal another blurred image! "Not enough light!" Joan exclaimed, asking Dan to open the louvered blinds to the left of us. Again, "Snap!", ritual, and blurred image, this time with a noticeable glare on our faces! "I guess I need more practice with this thing?" sighed Joan, as she sadly folded the camera and put it in her purse. She never brought the camera back to work after that day.

That Christmas, Joan showed up at work with a Kodak Instamatic. "What happened to your Polaroid camera, Joan?" "I gave it away." she replied with discernible irritation.

Doesn't "Joan" remind you of today's Bushies?

1. Bush reminds me of my own version of Joan
Her name was Anne. She was suppose to be the administrative assistant but because she was new, I did most of her work for her. I would try to show her how to do it, but she would mess it up. She would mail letters to the wrong addresses, even though the addresses were on the letters. Sometimes she never mailed the letters at all and I would find them bundled up in the mail room two to three weeks later.

When she typed things, she would forget which file she had saved them under so she would retype them. The problem was she would retype them with all the same typos still in. I would think we had a corrected letter, and she would bring it back in with all the errors we had circled and corrected previously.

She was suppose to answer the phone, but she would chit chat for hours with the people who called in. Many of our clients avoided her and called me and the boss directly, because they couldn't afford the time to chit chat for hours.

She was shown the filing system. When she was out for a week, I had to file some items. There was no filing system. She had been putting all her filing in a box under her desk, to file later she told me. But she never found the time to file them later.

When I had had enough, and began to give her letters of reprimand, she filed a grievance against me. She claimed I was Jewish and discriminated against Christians. This was very strange since I am Irish Catholic.

Eventually a hearing for her charges was arranged but she failed to show up and later left a menacing voice mail. She never showed up at the office again, and for weeks we would get voice mail messages from her with strange animal noises and ravings.

This is how bush would have turned out, if he hadn't had the luck to be born into the idle rich class.
