Just when I thought I couldn't be more pissed over the Ivins/Anthrax thing...
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 10:48 PM by Junkdrawer
The man was working on his sobriety before they leaned on him, his wife and his children...

...

It was around the time that FBI agents showed Ivins's 24-year-old daughter pictures of the victims who had died in the 2001 anthrax attacks and told her, "Your father did this," the scientist said. The agents also offered her twin brother the $2.5 million reward for solving the anthrax case -- and the sports car of his choice.

Ivins "was e-mailing me late at night with gobbledygook, ranting and raving" about what he called the "persecution" of his family, said the scientist, a recovering alcohol and drug user who had been sober for more than a decade. The scientist, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that he had been contacted by a co-worker of Ivins's at the sprawling Army biodefense laboratory in Fort Detrick and that the co-worker said the veteran anthrax researcher "has really gone down the tubes."

....

According to the scientist, who said he spent about 80 hours with Ivins to help him recover from his addiction, the FBI agents pressured Ivins's children, and they were pressuring Ivins in public places. One day in March, when Ivins was at a Frederick mall with his wife and son, the agents confronted the researcher and said, "You killed a bunch of people." Then they turned to his wife and said, "Do you know he killed people?" according to the scientist.

...

They found the most fragile person at that lab, cracked him, and then hung him publically in the press.

1. And all they had to do was detain him under the Patriot Act
if they were so sure.

27. Now THERE'S a good point
They could have arrested him, then claimed the evidence was "classified" and invoked the "States Secret" clause.

He would have disappeared and no one would be the wiser.

2. So they convicted him without a trial or jury....destroyed his
family and he committed suicide. Ivans may have the last laugh on them, they screwed this case up from the very beginning and any top lawyer will be able to destroy their case.

If Ivans is in fact guilty of the crimes, then the evidence must be examined by an outside party...outside of the government. There is no way any truth can come from any of the government agencies.

This is truely a sad day, the Rethuglicans have destroyed any faith in the DOJ, FBI and CIA. All organizations have be tainted.

3. This is getting personal...
As a person with long-term sobriety, I know that anyone with long-term sobriety goes to hell FAST if they start drinking again.

But for the grace of God go I...

7. No, they were crushing him for a suicide, because the dead make for easier patsies.
The psycological stress experts IDed this guy as the best prospect for a stress suicide, and decided to drive him to death and hang the case on him.

The real anthrax killers remain free.

JMO.

13. Tons of info in that article
some of which is inconsistent with the earlier narrative.

Also, lots more on Duley.

First, absolutely agree with you, Junkdrawer. What they've done to him and his family is vile. They destroyed him and the family has been put through extreme harassment. Accosting them in a mall - low down and dirty.

Next, where to start.

So the FBI trying to bribe his son is now getting media coverage.

On Duley: "Jean C. Duley, who worked until recent days for Comprehensive Counseling Associates in Frederick, is licensed as an entry-level drug counselor and was, according to one of her mentors, allowed to work with clients only under supervision of a more-seasoned professional."

So, if this was the case, who was the professional and why didn't they start process against Duley the minute he made the threats Duley alleges he did in the group session? Makes no sense.

And how do "two sets of therapy sessions" add up to a 6 month contact with Duley?

during the time his agency hounded this man to death.

Bob? You should have resigned in 2004. Maybe this man would be alive today.
