1. Actually Paris had a more intelligent solution
for our energy problem than either Obama or McCain. Maybe she should run for President, that would be "hot. Seriously Obama should run that one himself, it would get a good laugh and make Obama look more like the guy you would want to have that beer with and it would drive McCain nuts.

2. Good video...funny with a point...
Paris is not the blond bimbo most people believe she is.

And her energy plan makes as much sense as any I've heard from the two candidates.

I think McCain picked on the wrong celebrity. Not good judgment at all.

5. Actually, for all the griping...
...Obama has said that essentially what she stated was a policy he was open to, but he doesn't want to open the door to any sort of offshore drilling unless its accompanied by a long-range plan, because you damn well know that as soon as he were to say anything akin to "drilling might be ok (in an environmentally protected and deliberative fashion)" the GOP would omit everything between ( and ) and try to get "Drill Here Drill Now" hammered thru via some bullshit oil company kickback crap.

The topic isn't even up for debate, unless we see serious concessions on the table first.

No negotiating with republcian terrorists.

6. What we need is some bipartisan compromises...
The Republicans need to stop their mindless support for Big Oil and the Democrats meed to stop supporting the extreme environmentalist agenda.

Working together both parties can draft an energy program that will allow limited, environmentally safe drilling for the short term and promote green energy alternatives for the long term. A failure to accomplish this will result in wakening a sleeping giant (the American voters who merely watch American Idol). The anger of these voters will turn against all incumbent politicians and eventually replace them with people who will work together to solve the serious energy crisis.

Of course, the mere threat of this happening might drive oil prices down to the point that the voters will return to their favorite TV programs and ignore all the pompous foolishness that occurs in the Congress and the Presidency.

If we create a intelligent comprehensive energy program, we can gain energy independence, create jobs and possibly save the environment and reduce global warming.

9. An environmentalist is concerned about global warming...

and wants to find a way to move from fossil fuel to green energy sources such as solar, wind, wave, geothermal and nuclear.

I consider myself an environmentalist. I firmly believe that the energy future is bright with many alternative energy sources that will prove both cheap and efficient. I have seriously considered installing solar panels on my roof but I decided to wait a few years until the technology becomes more affordable (and I plan to move to another home in the near future). With a well designed system, I should be able to generate more electricity then I use and pump the excess back into the grid.

The globe is warming. While there may be many causes to this phenomenon, pumping pollution into the atmosphere at the rate we are is definitely not improving the situation. Even if you buy into the argument that mankind is not the only cause of this warming, there is absolutely no doubt that pollution is detrimental to life on this planet.

So we have to move toward non polluting energy sources. We can't accomplish this next week or next year or possibly even in the next decade. We need a transition phase. We can allow well regulated environmentally safe drilling offshore and in areas of Alaska. We can do a better job of this than many other nations who show little concern about the environment. We also have a tremendous amount of natural gas available. Automobiles can be converted to run on natural gas, a much cleaner fuel that may increase engine life.

To me extreme environmentalists are those who oppose any new leases for drilling or any development of nuclear energy. They believe that the increased price of gas at the pump will cause this country to move toward green energy at a more rapid rate.

Pandering to this group, which many Democrats do, will get their vote, however if gasoline rises to six, seven or even ten dollars by the midterm election-many Democrats will find themselves looking for jobs in the private sector.

edited for typo

The Republicans pander to Big Oil and likewise may suffer the same result. "We can't drill our way out of the crisis" is an accurate assessment of the situation.

So we have to find a compromise. When real problems face the country, the people expect and demand intelligent solutions. Politics as usual is not going to be tolerated.

A growing number of Democrats realize that we need both short and long term solutions. They believe that we need to allow some new drilling to transition to a better world.

Therefore I don't believe that I am posting on the wrong site.
