What follows is a new thread of more recent posts pertinent to the case. As I said previously, my apologies for a partial listing. Just post them below (as RobertPaulsen did to our real benefit on the last thread).

There's a real lag time with MSM on this case. CNN just covered the questionable sorority obsession this afternoon. The only pressure on ABC to come clean on the disinformation sources for it's 2001 anthrax stories are found at Greenwald's excellent blog, here and other alternative sources.

So how do we believe these MSM types when they interview a guy on a topic that has no real

here. The 3 network anchors on King tonight should be the final proof. They're already fixing

WASHINGTON - The case of the anthrax-laced letters that killed five people in 2001 and alarmed a nation already traumatized by the Sept. 11 terror attacks has been solved — but will remain open for now to wrap up legal and investigative loose ends, U.S. officials said.


The government were to begin briefing victims and their survivors at FBI headquarters Wednesday — eight days after the top suspect, Army biowarfare scientist Bruce Ivins, killed himself as prosecutors prepared to charge him with murder.

Ivins' lawyer maintains the brilliant but troubled scientist would have been proven innocent had he lived. And some of Ivins' friends and former co-workers at the Fort Detrick biological warfare lab in Frederick, Md., say they doubt he could or would have unleashed the deadly toxin.

But after nearly seven years — much of which was spent pointing the finger at the wrong suspect — the FBI is ready to end the "Amerithrax" investigation by outlining its evidence against Ivins, according to two U.S. officials. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

As survivors and relatives of victims express skepticism about Bruce Ivins' guilt in the 2001 anthrax attacks, more personal vignettes surface that portray the accused scientist as a warm, funny, outgoing guy.

Former Frederick resident Jim Fregonara took a continuing education class in juggling taught by Ivins.

"I liked juggling so I stuck with it," Fregonara said in a phone interview from his West Virginia home Monday. "Bruce had founded a little group called the Frederick Jugglers and I joined that."

The group, which Fregonara said had six or seven core members, performed at area nursing homes, schools and festivals such as In the Streets and the annual Koi Festival at Lilypons Water Gardens.

Diane Ivins walks to a van en route to the Fort Detrick chapel shortly after 11 a.m. today for a private ceremony for her husband, Bruce E. Ivins, the chief suspect in the 2001 Anthrax mailings. While the FBI was disclosing its case to the families of victims of the Anthrax mailings in Washington, family, friends and colleagues gathered to mourn the loss of Ivins.


A private memorial for government biodefense scientist, Bruce E. Ivins, is planned for approximately 11:30 a.m. today at Fort Detrick, according to Chuck Gordon, an Army spokesman.

His family has requested privacy, so the memorial is not open to the public, Gordon said.

"We are respecting that," Gordon said.

The service is being held in a chapel on base.

Applied Biosystems introduced their model 3700 automated DNA seqencing machine in 1998. Use of this machine enabled sequencing of the entire human genome in just 3 years, ending in 2001. The human genome is 600 times larger than the anthrax genome. Therefore, in 2001, when the anthrax attacks occurred, there was commercial technology available to sequence the anthrax genome in less than 2 days.

The statement says the Army is cooperating with the FBI and "will not comment further on any aspect of its bio testing program" until the investigation concludes.

Since the FBI was intimately involved in these investigations, all they did was confirm much of what Barbara Hatch Rosenberg had already claimed...and no one even gives her credit??

Q: How could Army scientist Bruce Ivins gain access to powdered anthrax, since the biological defense program at Fort Detrick, Md., where he worked did not deal with the toxin in that form?

A: Investigators said he has used devices called lyopholizers, which can convert anthrax to powder, as well as biological safety cabinets, incubators and centrifuges in vaccine research. Such devices are considered essential for the production of the highly purified powdered anthrax that was mailed to two Senate offices, as well as to news media organizations and elsewhere in the fall of 2001. But some colleagues say it would have been difficult, if not impossible, for Ivins to do the conversion unnoticed. The court documents say Ivins was unable to provide ''an adequate explanation for his late laboratory work hours'' around the time of the attacks.

Q: How can the FBI link Ivins to the anthrax for certain?

A: The closest they come is connecting the particular strain of anthrax to a flask in Ivins' lab. The government used new, sophisticated genetic testing techniques developed for this investigation. Others may have had access to that flask but they would have had to go through Ivins to get it. Prosecutors say they ruled out everyone else as suspects but did not explain how.

35. Gerald Posner was on KO tonight, debunking the "lone mailer" theory.

Posner was the dude who wrote "Case Closed," a book purporting to show that the Warren Commission was essentially right about JFK's assassination, Oswald did it. (So one can't accuse him of loving conspiracies, can one.)

Posner said that his experts said no way could one guy like Ivins mill and "poly-coat" the spores (i.e., weaponize) the anthrax to such a high degree. Claimed at the very least that others must have been involved.

Also, there's still no clear motive, except "he was crazy."

On edit--He also said it strains credulity that this "paranoid crazy man" had top secret clearance at a top secret weapons lab for something like 20 years . . .
