FBI: Ivins had bullet-proof vest - paperwork for gun - and emails detailing plans to kill co-workers

http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/08/anthrax-victim.html

USA TODAY's Donna Leinwand has details of the four-hour anthrax briefing that the FBI held for victims and their families today in Washington.

Patrick O'Donnell, a postal worker sickened by the attacks, says FBI director Robert Mueller and special agents who worked the case painted a picture of a deranged man who entered the Ft. Detrick, Md., lab in 2000 and 2001 long after other scientists had gone home for the day.

"It's a lot of circumstantial evidence, painting him as a schizophrenic, psychopathic person," O'Donnell says. "It was very, very compelling stuff. It's just weird stuff. I pretty much have no doubt in my mind he did it now."

FBI agents who raided Ivins' house after he committed suicide found a bullet-proof vest, completed paperwork for the purchase of a Glock handgun and scores of e-mails detailing plans to kill his co-workers and others, O'Donnell says.

Last paragraph sounds just like what the Ivins "counselor", Jean Duley described: "He proceeded to describe to the group a very long and detailed homicidal plan," Duley testified, "that he had bought a bulletproof vest, had obtained a gun, a very detailed plan to kill his co-workers."

1. Scores of e-mails to whom? Himself? They had to get it off his own computer?
I hope there was a non-FBI witness.

13. That's what I was wondering, why did they find the emails at his house?
With the telcos monitoring freaking everybody, it seems like they would have the emails from the ISP LONG before.

15. Did He Send The E-Mails To Himself?......
Come on - who were these e-mails sent to. Did he have an accomplice? If he was concerned for his life and that he was a target of the FBI - do you think that this might have motivated him to get a bullet-proof vest? or the need to purchase a gun? If these weren't planted - did they scare him enough to acquire that which they used to pin this on him?

2. However, they have absolutely zero proof he had anything to do with
the anthrax. None.

3. Sounds like a guy who was being harassed and wanted to defend himself
and his family.

as far as the "emails describing his plans" - yeah - who did he send them to?

Sounds eerily reminiscent of Noriega's "kiddie porn stash" that they (Bush Sr.) conveniently found when he fled.

don't they have any real evidence?

9. The feds seem to be going a bit overboard
next we'll hear that they found several copies of "Catcher in the Rye" and they'll start using his middle name when they talk about him.

16. He was apparently being harrassed, so why would he send e-mails
and to whom did he send them? The whole thing still sounds totally phony. They were purposely trying to drive him to suicide IMHO.

17. They also found plans for him to create a Destructo Beam.
The Destructo Beam is the most powerful weapon ever wrought by man. Capable of vaporizing the Earth into...vapor.

20. To those who heard the press conference
Did the FBI bring up any of this at the press conference?

If not, could it be because they didn't want to have to try to answer the consequent questions about this.

21. Rank amatuers. They just don't know when to stop piling on the bullshit.
Pretty soon we'll be hearing he had Lil' Kim (all three), Osama, Saddam and Charles Manson on speed-dial, never tipped enough, kicked his dog, sold Amway, instigated every school shooting since 1980, ran a kiddie porn mega-studio and is solely responsible for destroying the Amazon rain forest. With all the bizarre plots and crimes being fabricated, the anthrax letters are going to end up being the least damning.

The crap hasn't been piled this deep since the run-up to the illegal invasion of Iraq, and I'm thinking the same unimaginative, pre-adolescent minds are behind the smears. Ya' feel me Kkkarl?

It wouldn't be so bad if the whole bunch had an ounce of creativity among them, but throwing this kind of crazy shit out there and hoping some it will stick in our collective psyche is incredibly insulting - and that's saying a lot, given our current condition.

We had a chance to cancel this tragic unreality show in 2003, then blew it by not being involved and fighting back. We can't afford to make that mistake again. Ever. When these bastards are run out of DC in 2009, we need to let them know they need not reapply.

...and got away with killing so many people with anthrax, why the gun?
