Why in the HELL does what Edwards did matter??? |
|
Would you lose your career if you fooled around on your wife? I doubt it.
How many politicans have done it and still been great for this country? For the world?
Would you not buy a Honda or Chevy or Ford if the CEO fooled around on his wife?
This is so stupid and it shows you why this country is so fucked up. People worry about sound bites and screaming and affairs. Stuff that does not matter.

1. congatulations, yours is the 2,329,579th post that shouldn't be in GD-P, today. |
|
Please try to understand that it should be in General Discussion, not General Discussion Presidential.

I've known people who have screwed around but they aren't bad at their job. Imagine if everyone lost there job because of things like this.A large chunk of this country would be unemployed.

4. Because he was a sociopathic, selfish bastard, who could have f'd up 2008. |
|
Edwards was a reasonable contender for the Democratic nomination and the VP candidate of 2004, which makes the unmasking of him as a typical, sociopath politician important and news worthy.
If anything, the Edwards "I am scum" story takes the heat off of Obama and the pummelling the MSM was performing last week and the Clintons are pissed narriative. This switch in news cycle is GOOD for Obama.

pretty much slammed for not understanding! Personally, I don't care what sexual foolishness goes on in the background. I like John, but I was not a strong supporter for him as President for many reasons, but sexual indiscretion sure wasn't one of them!

9. Because today - in 2008 - it DOES matter |
|
We live in an age of media scrutiny. Infidelity is seen as dishonorable and deceptive. The logical question is if a man can do this to his wife, what would keep him from being deceptive -- and lying to the citizens? Forget history, this is today's reality.
The second point is maybe the most critical. Knowing this - why would John Edwards take millions from people and allow people to give their hearts and souls to a campaign, take votes from other candidates by his presence in the campaign, and know that he had a secret that would doom the Democratic Party as the nominee? The only answers: Selfish. Egotistical. Arrogant. Almost, in this day and age, sociopathic.

-Politicians are not private people. They are public officials that keep the system we live in alive and well. We put our trust, our taxpayer money and our problems as a society ON THEIR HANDS.
-Someone that has questionable judgement or has shown to be dishonest in his or her private life should not pretend that we, the voters, are going to deposit our money and trust on him or her. Politicians are reflections of what we want for a society- they represent the ideals we believe in, and they, as our representatives, need to remember that whatever they do wrong affects and is projected on us, the people that supported them. A disgraced mayor puts his or her city on the spot, in a bad light. Ask Mayor Kilpatrick, for example.
-John Edwards wanted to be our candidate for president knowing that if that info came out during the campaign season, our party would've been done. I'm sorry, but most people wouldn't trust the destiny of their nation to a man that is willing to cheat on his terminally ill wife and use campaign money to finance his affair (he hired this lady to perform a job she hardly could perform, according to the news). Not only that, John seems to be denying the lady's son is his, but he has not got a DNA test done? C'mon- get that stuff done before you deny or affirm anything. It's the correct thing to do.
I mean, I gave money to John in November and December and had mad respect for him. I wanted him to be the VP candidate. But can you imagine what would have happened if Obama had chosen Edwards in, let's say, July?
I'm sorry, but John screwed it up. If you don't want your private life to be used against you, don't become a PUBLIC FIGURE OR SERVANT.

14. Because he paid her newly formed company over $100,000 of PAC money |
|
He paid her company to make video documentaries, and she had no experience in that area and does not work in it now.
If he gave her the gig just 'cause she was his mistress, that's a big deal. It may even open him up to criminal prosecution.
That's why it matters.
