You have to admit - Edward's timing is great! WIth Obama on |
|

vacation in Hawaii, McCain should have had the spot light to himself this week. Instead, the chattering classes will be discussing Edwards as naseum!
Talk about taking one for the team!
On edit - Jon Stewert should never be allowed to go on vacation - something always breaks when he does!

1. I don't think the timing was an accident. |
|
I think Edwards knew the noose was tightening, and decided he'd better lance the boil now, specifically because of the damage he could do to the party/Obama.
Maybe the two of them talked . . .

2. And when Obama returns from vacation, this will all be old news |
|

4. Why didn't he get a paternity test done? |
|
By not releasing one with this announcement, Edwards had guaranteed that the tabloids will be dragging this along until he does, making another round of full press coverage when he finally does and again when the results are announced. The only way this wouldn't be too adverse for Obama is if he waits until the Republican convention to do it all. But the Republicans will still scream about it and find a way to tie it to Obama.
Much, much disappointment with Edwards here.

but I think it was no accident that Edwards decided to come clean on a big "news" day --- the opening day of the Olympics.

5. it's story number two though.....much more important here than war breaking out in Europe. |
|
running with it almost nonstop on CNN, as I type
that said, I think the timing is very good, except for the above poster's remark about getting the DNA test done along with making the announcement
also, how often do you think McC is changing his Depends these days?
he's hoping all his goodwill with his base will pay off in their continued UTTER SILENCE on his own petardigans

6. Same reason Russia attacked Georgia |
|
right at the time the Olympic Games opening ceremony was taking place. It's a well known trick in the business of news management. See this story from a British newspaper back in 2001: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1358985/Sept-11-%27a-good-day-to-bury-bad-news%27.html

7. besides, we liberals love girls....etc |
|
mcain is a reactionary who belongs to the low hanging fruit ie 'gop' who condemns xxxual anything not intended to be procreation, while we liberals flaunt our lack of moral rectitude! As a liberal, John Edwards is in the wrong only because his wifey might get po'ed, and the rest is good old hanky panky. Now mcbushmush is another matter. Hw betrayed everything sacred when he 'cheated' on wife number 1, since 'cheating' is sinful for low hanging fruits aka rightwingers (for progs, 'cheating' is not only not sinful, it's considered career enhancing IF the doer does it w/out getting caught- and any legitimate criticism of Edwards is for getting caught, because that's throwing red meat to the hyena media- who still after 40 years bring up JFK's hanky panky, mostly resentful that in the old days, the 'gliberal' media had the wit not to mention it, and BOY does that poff the reactionary boors of our modern pigmedia!)  ;) ;) :)  hahaha!!!!....)

8. Sure. He announced that on a Friday, making sure that every Dem who will be on TV Sunday has |
|
to get a question about that. He goes on primetime TV rather than releasing a statement and trying to become invisible, and then his wife complains about not getting her privacy.
As much as I do not care about what they do, the point is exactly that: I DO NOT CARE. I do not need to hear about it and would have appreciated if they had kept some discretion.
I want to be able to turn my TV on with hearing about that, and, right now, be it on DU, TV, or various blogs, it is all that is discussed.
