LETTER TO CONGRESS: 2008 is too late to pull out of Iraq
I was glad to see the Democrats attached a fall 2008 deadline for pulling out of Iraq to the supplemental appropriation for the war, but why is it so late? What do you think is going to change for the better by then? A British Ministry of Defense poll found that less than one percent of Iraqis feel safer because we are there, every poll of Iraqis has shown they want us to leave, and even the Bush-approved government has asked us when we are going to leave.

The only thing that will change between now and fall 2008 is the amount of wasted tax dollars, the number of dead Iraqis and American troops, and a possible attack on Iran using Iraq as a base.

If you are waiting for certainty that the Iraqis will honor the hydrocarbon law forced on them, that is unlikely to happen ever.
It is no comfort to hear my Democratic representatives debating the war in the propaganda terms laid out by the most corrupt and dangerous president in our history.

It's time to expose the role of big oil in dictating our foreign policy and put an end to it. We need Congress to represent ALL of the American people, not just a handful of corporations who repay us for the war by gouging us at the pump.
