It's time for us to take a time out from sticking our nose in other people's business.

We need to be concerned with our problems in Georgia, USA before worrying about Georgia halfway around the world.

4. This is true but this Administration may have fucked the US
again...they have found Americans (Possibly Blackwater) in Georgia. so that means that the * administration has involved the US in another conflict. Every encounter, every conflict these Republicans get us in means it's another step closer to America being in real trouble.

Our military is broken we cannot afford to be drawn into another mess.

5. the problem with that wishful thought is i believe many of us believe
no one in power at the present time seems able to help our country regain any type of footing to help us out of the mess we have found ourselves to be in. all we have been given for our outrage are false assurances that continue to bear no fruit

8. And what happens to us effects them. We are tanking both in our
broken armed forces and our economy. If you add another war onto that we are not going to be much help to anyone even ourselves. I agree that we should be working for a truce and peace in this situation but are we really sure that dear condi and *ss did not set it off in the first place. What did she tell Georgia officials when she was over there that made them move against Russia? And they did make the first move. Do you really trust any of the leaders of any of the countries involved, including our own country? Military action is not the only answer to every situation.

9. Wait, you are telling me that Georgia
invaded Russia? Funny I didn't hear about that. What I read and heard was some conflicting stories, but all the action was around the Georgian city. Unless you consider that city to be part of Russia?

12. No Georgia move against a small independent area within her
borders S. Ossetia which has been under the protection of Russia thus triggering the incident. Approx. 2000 people were killed in the little war. That is according to KO and other posters on this board. If you know for sure that is wrong then give us some links.

Lots of other sources at c-span media I understand what you are saying, but if a region is within the border of a country, I would hardly call it invading Russia. Remember those pesky southern states? maybe we should allow Georgia to try to fix their own political problems, as the Russians should too.

10. This is about phucking oil.
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 11:15 PM by TWriterD
Surely you comprehend that.

The conflict deals a blow to U.S. aspirations of bringing Georgia into NATO's orbit and of bolstering an emerging energy corridor linking Central Asia to Europe.

...

Georgia is a key link in a U.S.-backed "southern energy corridor" that connects the Caspian Sea region with world markets, bypassing Russia. The BP Plc-led Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline to Turkey runs about 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Tskhinvali.

13. Georgia
I just checked BBC, and it seems that the Russians are pretty deep within Georgian territory. The ruskys also appear to have ships off the coast. Now I want to be clear, I'm sure bushco and his oil cronies have something going on there as concerns oil. That however is no reason to side with the Russians doing dirty work, they have no more right to invade then we do. This and many other goofy stuff going on, seems to me to be a result of our depleted armed forces as well as our depleted diplomatic standing. If we can make it to the election and get Obama elected, we may, and I emphasize MAY, be able to repair some of the things this criminal has done not only to us , but to all the world. This is the 21st century, and should be a glorious time for mankind, if we can live long enough to see it.
