Poll question: Quick Question: Who's more powerful? The Government of the United States or Big Business or What?
Edited on Tue Aug-12-08 06:37 PM by Octafish

And I'm talking about the current government, with, ostensibly three branches.

If yours is not listed, please vote "Other" and tell us who or what you believe is the most powerful organization on the planet.

I vote for Organized Crime, because of the narcotics trade, it may be the only business bigger than petroleum.

1. "All of the above"
* Note: The narcotics trade depends quite a bit on oil, as well.

5. Agree wholeheartedly -- but I had to vote what I said I was going to vote.

My reason, at the time, was that it is what drives all of the above.
Some have no conscience, acting like a little pilot inside each of the Hydra's heads.
After reading what you wrote, though, I like your answer.

Brother H20 Man, I’m so old, I remember when the Government of the United States meant “We the People.”

11. Other on poll. Remember when DHS
Edited on Tue Aug-12-08 07:10 PM by vickiss
was the Dept. of HUMAN Services? I only finally stopped thinking that in the last year or so.

'Homeland" just doesn't want to compute.

Would you happen to remember * in SA in 2005, iirc, Argentina? He was totally hammered and holding onto the podium to remain upright? It was on cspan and even my nephews, then 8 and 10, knew * was completely toasted while watching it at their (alcoholic) father's house. They know trashed when they see it.

I have searched numerous times since then, nada. Certainly not on the WH site under "speeches" given by the chimp.

Thanks for any info!

@@@Other includes BFEE, but it is more those you never see or hear about much, if ever.

14. I'm reading Ron Suskind's
new book, "The Way of the World." The part about the OVP trying to get forged document(s) is what is getting some headlines. But much of the rest of the book is more chilling. Those who understand and appreciate this thread would do well to read the book.

My answer would be "Neither. Greater still is that which gives both breath."

all of the above as different tentacles of the same octopus.

Thanks for the thread, Octafish.

P.S. I would add the corporate media propaganda arm as well to the list.

15. BFEE has weakened America by shifting manufacturing jobs overseas.
In fact, they've moved whole industries overseas.
Soon, the only jobs worth having in the USA will require 7 years of college.

John "Sphincter" Engler, former governor of Michigan, heads the National Association of Manufacturers.
The sweaty turd claims it's good to "invest" in overseas plants.
That's about as un-American as one can get.
Like the good member of the Bush gang he is,
Engler's only doing what their monied masters want him to do.

23. Yes/No BFEE has simply continued to the further the agenda started under Raygun.
The destruction of this country has been done because we, as a people, are prepared to demolish anything, even everything, to keep their perceived "security".

We must remember that there are many of these people out there and they are nearly finished with us.

18. Maybe I'm foolish but I still think the people hold the power...

if we (as a whole) ever decided to wield it. Most big business is still dependent on a broad base of customers. If enough people really wanted to oust elected officials, it could happen. Even government contracts and deregulation bills need some political support.

The main problem is that we are often dumbed down, lied to, deceived, and/or terrorized by the media, and it clouds our judgement. Special interests have ways of working around the public interest and we are too distracted to notice.

20. People have the power of course.
People have the power baby! Patti Smith told me so.

I really do believe this. The people are the majority, and while we're content for now if we continue to be pushed we will use our power to redeem the work of fools.
