The Edwards affair would have been handled differently if he had been the nominee |
|
It would not have stopped the campaign or decimated the party. He obviously would have not admitted it. It would have been nothing but some sensationalized tabloid allegations. If she had wanted to go public she would not have stood a chance against a national campaign.
I know that many here love nothing more than trying to destroy any Democrat who has any criminal charge filed against them or even a hint of something unethical. From some of the posts I've seen I actually think some of our ethics choir wanted that to happen just so they could see people trying to take down a Democratic nominee.

4. Should not be locked. I tend to agree with you about national campaigns... |
|
... although I do not know about Edwards as he was never an inside the beltway media darling. I think the MSM doth protest too much that they knew but decided not to publish.

7. If he had been the nominee, he probably wouldn't have been visiting that woman and 'her' baby |
|
At least I hope that is the case.

11. And that whole incident was what brought this out |
|
He either denied everything or dodged questions about it until the Inquirer came out with photos of him at the hotel with the woman and 'her' baby.

10. But then the race would have been on to score some of his DNA |
|
(as well as the baby's) and we'd have been treated to the spectacle of his staff trailing behind him Swiffering and Dustbustering madly to keep any stray hairs from falling into the hands of NE operatives.

Cover up worked really well for Bill Clinton and Monica, didn't it? Give me a break. There would be a lot more interest from reporters and GOP as to what went on if Edwards was the nominee.

OK, I'll be your Huckleberry.
You're wrong. It would have cost us the presidency and some congressional seats, and he would have been gone from the ticket faster than you can say "buh bye, John."
