Russia warning Poland now
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26203430

Someone said earlier this yr. That McCain is likely to have the US involved in another cold war, if elected. I now fear him becoming President even more.

4. You hope that Russia nukes Poland? Is this because Poland is in Russia's
"sphere of influence" and is doing something that Russia doesn't like?

I hope you don't mean to justify Bush nuking Venezuela for buying Russian military aircraft. (Poland is not being pro-Russian enough and Venezuela is not being pro-American enough within our respective "spheres of influence".)

2. We're setting up missiles in Poland. Who could've imagined Russia would be upset?
:sarcasm:

Surely, we won't throw a fit if the Russians put missiles in Cuba?

3. Russia is on a roll
Saying forget about Georgia's territorial independence, threatening the Ukraine, threatening Poland.

I guess if I lived in Poland or one of the Baltic countries, I'd probably want in NATO and have some missiles ASAP.

Russia seems determined to rebuild their empire whether the countries involved want to come back or not.

8. I think we are provoking Russia into war. If not over Georgia, then maybe Poland
We (McSame) encouraged Georgia to attack Russia, now we are giving Poland a missle "defense" system.

We are poking the Russian Bear and are trying to start another Cold War

10. I rather think that centuries of abuse and oppression have done some provoking.
When we see anti-Americanism among those the US abused, some are honest enough to admit that maybe there's a causal relationship. Of course, it's easy for Ortega, Morales, Lula da Siulva, Chavez to say things that displease many Americans. The US should change it's approach. Monroe Doctrine evil.

Then we see "anti-Russianism", and Russia's okay with not changing. The smaller countries should be circumspect; they deserve what they get. In fact, if not for the US, anti-Russianism wouldn't exist. It's our fault, part of an American Christ-complex--America, qui tollet peccata mundi. Analog to the Monroe Doctrine is ok, to be expected and endorsed.

Slavophiles have a dark side: Russian paternalism. The only real non-Russian pro-Russian Slavophiles were in countries fighting Ottoman or Habsburg oppression--pawns in Russia's struggle with the Ottoman's, or a Romantic plea for similar support. Well, the non-Russian Slavophiles got their wish, and are more like Poland now. Siloviki are like some--only some--the older Russian Slavophiles; some were just pro-liberty, helping their brethren, while others saw Russia as the only natural, nationalistic leader of the Slavs, the proper ruler of the minor tribes.

I rather like the speculation that the Khorvati were Alans assimilated into Slavdom. It means that while the eastern Alans are clamoring for Russian help, the Western Alans have soundly rejected it.

9. Better get used to the idea, 'cause he's going to be. The GOP
is going to steal this election, and the Democrats will roll over and take it, just like they take everything.
