bu$h* gives russia the finger with poland missile deal
Russia Enraged by Poland Missile Deal

WASHINGTON — The United States and Poland reached a long-stalled deal on Thursday to place an American missile defense base on Polish territory, in the strongest reaction so far to Russia’s military operation in Georgia.

Russia reacted angrily, saying that the move would worsen relations with the United States that have already been strained severely in the week since Russian troops entered separatist enclaves in Georgia, a close American ally. At a news conference on Friday, a senior Russian defense official, Colonel General Anatoly Nogovitsyn, suggested that Poland was making itself a target by agreeing to serve as host for the anti-missile system. Such an action “cannot go unpunished,” he said.

The deal reflected growing alarm in a range of countries that had been part of the Soviet sphere, about a newly rich and powerful Russia’s intentions in its former cold war sphere of power. In fact, negotiations dragged on for 18 months — but were completed only as old memories and new fears surfaced in recent days.

1. Yet, Russia is free to sell arms to Venezuela and talks about bomber bases in Cuba?

2. How cute. Yet, Poland might be doing the same thing that Georgia
did, that is to give Russia a pretext for what it already wanted to do, invade.

One should be careful with the finger.

5. Poland and the other ex-Soviet empire countries are in a tough spot.
Wait there quietly while Russia gets stronger and more belligerent and hope not to get invaded, or make allies with the west and NATO to get some protection.

If I'm a Baltic country or Poland or Ukraine, I'm probably looking for help ASAP. Eventually, Russia will come up with a pretext to invade.

They want their empire back.

7. This may turn out to be the biggest land grab of the 21st Century.
Maybe all of the former Soviet Countries should join an Union of their own for mutual protection, then try to join NATO for some help. I haven't given this a lot of thought. But, it looks like they are just sitting their totally vulnerable to Russia's wishes with no one to stop them just as their was no one to stop the U.S. for invading Iraq and Afghanistan.

8. The only place Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics can go is NATO
In a lot of ways, it would probably be better for them to form a mutual defense treay amongst themselves. But Russia would destroy any combined forces in a matter of weeks and then have the freedom to go anywhere they want.

Their choices are
1. Ratchet up their defense budgets to insane levels or
2. Join NATO and align themselves with the West...and really piss of Russia

Like it has been set, it's an extremely tough spot.

3. Bush boy continues to poke the bear
Missile shield in Georgia, recognizing Kosovo, NATO recognition for Georgia, Bush has continued to ratchet up the stakes like it was still the Cold War, all throughout his time in office. Sooner or later Russia was going to respond.

Now Bushboy wants to continue to tease the bear, what's he after, an attack on the US.
