Should we @ DU make an ad and buy air time about McSame to air during the convention?

I was wondering that since Moveon makes ads and buys air time for some nice "attack ads". I was thinking that it would be cool if we could utilize some of the massive talent that is here and make one hell of an attack ad against McSame.

Could we do it (legally)? or would we have to form our own 527? Would anyone be interested in forming a Democratic Underground PAC to buy air time and make ads?

I think it would be great to make the Underground a Movement. We talk a good talk, but how good would it be to walk the walk too?

1. You mean to air on TV during the convention?

Because if so, I think you may be underestimating the cost of national ad buys by a few million dollars.

Of course, if you're talking about a viral video, you may have something.

2. "viral" videos rarely get coverage on MSM news

and if it doesnt happen on the tv news, it doesnt really happen.

I know it might cost a lot, but I think we could raise a little for some air time somewhere during the day or on a news network.

3. When it comes to campaigns, they do.

Hell, many of the McCain ads never got on TV with actual ad buys. Of course, those are videos coming from the campaigns themselves.

Again, I think you're severely underestimating the ad rate on national TV time. DU is not capable of raising that kind of grip. Maybe if the site partnered with several others (Kos, etc.) and the umbrella group came out with an ad, it could be pulled off.
