I want THEM to be marginalized for decades.
I want CONservative to become a bigger pejorative than Liberal ever was.

I want them to be the minority on every vote, and watch helplessly as all the damage they have done is undone.

I want the average American to realize that they were NEVER *for* their best interest, so those few rats who don't jump ship will be looked upon with disgust by the redneck, white middle class, the blue collar, and anyone else who ever thought the Republick Party spoke for them.

I want so many people to turn their backs on the CONservatives that it is no longer profitable for radio and TV to cater to their foul talking heads. Maybe THEN they'll truly miss the Fairness Doctrine.

I want the Democratic Party to gradually show those Americans who have been failed by the Republick Party that our policies DO work, that life is BETTER under Democrats, and that we can be a nation worthy of the respect of the rest of the world once again.

Care to add to my wishlist?

6. You should use anti-trust laws to destroy media monopolies that shape public views.
The problem is too few outlets control the national dialogue. Smash them.

Them just LOSING so much support that no one wants to listen to them anyway.

That being said, yours is the more common sense-type of solution.

18. Exactly right.
Corporate servants will always define the corporate media's coverage. The only way to fix it is to smash big media conglomerates.

7. Well don't be like my generation
and totally forget how these fuckers are. Anyone who is 45 and over should have had some understanding when the same players were playing. It pissed me off so bad, I'm 49 and I will never let them forget it. Anyone who's name you have heard over and over in the political arena for the last 40 year like rumsfeld, cheney, wolf, etc...you know who they are if you were half awake in the last 50 years. Vote these fuckers out. Gut the whole place, put new blood in the house. Fuck all these old white male bastards. I hate the all.

History has a nasty habit of repeating itself. Once you have both congress and the WH, everything bad gets blamed on you just like in 1993-1994.

16. I may be an eternal optimist, but I think it is possible.
They have lost a large chunk of their base. If we win by a decent margin, and win seats in the House and Senate, AND if we are able to successfully take on the numerous serious problems facing our country right now, then it is possible that we can regain a long-term majority in public affiliation. In my opinion, the biggest challenge will be doing the right things once we have that majority. You know the sayings about power corrupting. It will be up to us to hold their feet to the fire and not let them screw up once we have the power.

34. I'd like to think Obama and a real (D) Congress would shine from day one...
but they'll be walking into one hell of a mess, probably worse than anything since the Great Depression and there are many ramifications we're not even aware of yet.

We are going to be asked to sacrifice or we're not going to get through this. However, it will be easier if those responsible for this debacle are held accountable. We not only need justice, but an example to ensure this will never happen again.

35. But you know what?
When Americans face a crisis, historically we answer the call when asked to sacrifice.... it gives a feeling of investment in the cause, as opposed to being a passive party to it. We should have been asked to sacrifice already, but instead we were only asked to go shopping.

23. I couldn't agree more! We have to stop whimping out with this "neo-con" nonsense.
It is "conservative", clear and simple, "neo-con" is merely a hybrid of the virus!

Limbaugh has been throwing mud on the "liberal" brand for over two decades. It is high time we reverse the trend!

24. Only Impeachment Can Bring That About
It could well http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Senator/16">reunite our once-great nation against their paranoid, reckless, amorality.

And we can still force the impotent-to-do-anything-but-impeach Congress to act. Impeachment for torture can be done in days, not weeks.

Stop talking Corsi and start http://www.ronsuskind.com/thewayoftheworld/">talking Suskind. Stop talking Hillary and start http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamdan_v._Rumsfeld">talking Hamdan.

Just keep talking impeachment to anyone you can.

And if some of you are still making any excuse or wasting effort on anything else -- including (genuflect) The Sacred National Election Horserace -- then you (yes, you personally) are part of the problem, not the solution.

The Democrats in my area are ignoring the resolutions drawn up by the rank and file voted on and are running Republican like campaigns especially in the areas of "security" and rampant xenophobia.

28. Unfortunately, it takes big money to fight big money...
Why should huge corporations with tax cuts from the GOP care about what we think unless we have the money to be their equals? Why should the MSM care about fairness when they're getting rich off the monied Right? The only way we win is when these people start hurting financially because of their politics.

30. Sadly, won't happen
The general public are too easily distracted and too forgetful for that. The 25% or so will never acknowledge anything that paints Republicans as less than living saints. As for the rest, time will go by, people will forget, the evidence will disappear or be lost and the people will go back to sleep until finally, the only people who remember are historians and political junkies like us.

31. The future looks pretty good to me.
Watergate is not even close to forgotten, and now they've gone and fucked up even bigger.

Their base is dying. Who are the young up & coming republicans? I don't see any.

Fiscal conservatism has now been proven at least twice to be a dismal failure. Where is the great conservative success story? How about any conservative success story?

The only thing missing from permanently discrediting conservative philosophy is our elected democrats' refusal to deliver the death blow.

32. See, that is how I feel too!
Thank you! As much as impeachment and imprisonment would have been warranted, even if we never get that, their brand is extremely bruised right now. If they continue to lose power, and people start really seeing how much of an improvement Democratic policies ARE, then I think it's really possible to have a majority for decades, if not generations as mentioned above. But we have to CAPITALIZE on this shift in power while we can!
