2. If they're right about the track, she'll spend most of her time over land |
|
which means if she hits, she'll just be another wet willie.
Of course, if you're in the building industry, maybe a stronger storm would be to your advantage. People would need repairs.

9. I rained every day this week. |
|
Things are much better up there. If it sticks to the projected path it may finally break the drought.

Right at the point below McPain's chin.
I always have an escape plan only I always had more money in my plan.
I will get out if it comes this way. I've been through enough of them.

5. I read your post earlier today about being out of work |
|
Me too, one week now. I've used the time to fix up the house a bit, maintainance on the truck, and just pure, guilt-free relaxation. Not to mention being able to spend a little more time on DU. About an hour ago, I got a call. I'll be back to work Monday. You'll be back soon too. I have a small general contracting business, and do a lot of the work myself, concrete, masonry, carpentry, hell, I'll do shingles, tile, sheetrock, whatever pays. Mostly masonry. Good luck.

6. That's exactly what I did too. |
|
Last week. But it has rained every day this week. All I did was surf the net and nap. I posted the earlier one out of boredom more than desperation.
Very soon after posting I found out that a storm is coming. If nothing else I will have work putting up shutters.

Fay will blow away my house and I can collect the insurance.. can't sell the son of a bitch. Paid $200K for it.. now it's worth $100K. Unemployment hit 8.5%. I'm thinking about Costa Rica or Panama? 3rd world really is doing better under Bush and his Bankster/Gangsters.

Man, Allslop Insurance nearly put us in the graveyard with the bs they put us through. How about they only wanted to pay $119,000 on $285,000's worth of burnt to a crisp home, multipolicy, no previous claim, never late on a payment.
naw....don't even wish it.

I hear that when the Hurricane blows your roof off and lets the water in, they claim it is "Water Damage",Not storm damage, and they dont want to pay. If you dont have flood insurance youre screwed. You make all those payments and then when you try to use the insurance.. they word-craft your policy. You gotta LOVE IT!

10. Shouldn't this actually help your employment prospects? |
|
I'd think that anybody in construction would sort of look at these things as a mixed blessing.

But I do not tempt karma by wishing for one. The benefit to me is nothing compared to the hardship that they cause.
Every time we've had one there was a relatively short period of work followed by a long period of no one building because they cannot get insured.

11. Fay's just gonna bring you rain. But she might also make |
|
some people nervous enough to hire a carpenter such as yourself to shore things up in advance of the next one.
Think on the bright side.

14. We're contractors too and between the cost of steel, the stank economy |
|
lack of honest help, not to mention the high weather season's fast approaching......we're just holding on too. We have to store up our acorns for the winter, trying not to panic too much.
Keep your chin up much as possible, thing's will pick up.
