4. This is why the GOP won't let vets vote or even register
Vets are one of the demographics they're trying hard to disenfranchise this time around. I can't believe Obama's campaign isn't making an issue of this.

9. that's troubling and extremely anti-American
Your statement really pisses me off... these fuckers have the audacity to fly the American flag for everyone of their fascist ploys, yet abuse our military for dishonorable wars, under fund veteran's benefits, pay a hell of a lot more for private mercenaries, and then disenfranchise them all from voting. Fucking scumbags is right...

10. They don't value our military beyond the role of decoration
After all, it's the right that keeps saying that all the soldiers killed in Iraq would become "pointless" if we don't win. That is, they only see these enlisted men and women as a means to some vicarious glory, and fuck 'em if they can't make the right feel brave from the comfort of their couches.

6. Weird, isn't it?
The Swiftboat Veterans for "Truth" got all sorts of coverage for their character assassination of John Kerry, even though it was based on the word of one guy who served for a very short time with Kerry. Everyone else, dozens of men, and the U.S. Navy, all said that Kerry was the goods, that he really and truly did his part during his time in the service, and that he earned every citation and medal he'd been awarded.

Fast forward four years, and active duty military and veterans are all over the place, ready to weigh in with their opinion of McThuselah and his military "experience" and judgment. Yet nobody in media can be bothered to contact any of them for a contrary opinion to the "war hero" story being so assiduously peddled.

Just plain weird. If it wasn't a well-known and well-recited fact that the media are "liberal," one might almost suspect there was some sort of bias in favor of the Republicans. But we know that can't be it; there must be some other explanation, but I can't figure out what it might be . . .

7. I Feel Your Cynicism
It's an easy more palpable way of dealing with the injustice of having a corporate American agenda with all the money and means to seel Americans garbage on a daily basis.

14. "McThuselah"
I love it.

Plus, I'm a Vietnam vet and I hate the fucker. And there are only a very few people on this planet that I hate.

Check out the video from Vietnam Vets Against McAnus and you'll REALLY BE PISSED.

12. That guy was awesome. I'm going to check out the website he
mentioned:
http://www.vietnamveteransagainstmccain.com/

when I have some time.

I wish I could share my Vietnam Vet father's favorite term for McCain, but the rules of this forum and my personal respect for women prevent me from using it. It starts with "incompetent treasonous self-serving little..." and ends with the word I won't use.

13. A former co-worker of mine served with McCain
and says he won't vote for him under any circumstances. Won't tell me any stories about why, though.... :-(

15. So, if these folks won't speak up now--at this most historic of moments--what hope is there for US?
There are lots of people who have gone on record and are doing so as we type, so maybe you could talk your former co-worker friend into helping us keep this plague from descending on our democracy.

That would be the patriotic thing for a former Navy guy to do.
