Let's go back to a nude Olympics
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 01:58 PM by TrogL
...with protective gear for those sports requiring it.

(on edit, fixed numbering)

I'll make the case for it.

  1. Extra cooling will improve performance
  2. Extra air circulation in crotch area may prevent (eg. yeast) infection
  3. Less restrain in male crotch area may prevent testicular cancer
  4. No logos

Some other notes:

  1. Athletes' number can be put on an armband or with magic marker (they're doing that already)
  2. There's a lot LESS problems in societies favouring public nudity
  3. Pixillation works

Even man nipples are consider too saucy.

3. and there would definitely be an increase in ratings
which is good for advertisers and good for the economy.

In anticipation of this I have taken my clothes off and done three laps around the living room, in slow motion.

6. One would presumably want to wear protective gear
Although during the Calgary Olympics there was a mini heat wave that made some athletes so uncomfortable nude may have worked for them.

31. It's not that weight lifters are ugly.
Just that I don't want to see them naked while cleaning and jerking 800 pounds above their heads.

I think there was a Seinfeld episode about "good naked and bad naked".

35. Oh sure, I know what you meant.
It's just that my ideas of good naked and bad naked are not quite in conformity with most peoples'. I'm of the 'bearish' persuasion and most people like me would love to see what you just described!

8. This would also help return the Olympics to their original purpose. They used to actually
stop wars for the Olympics!

Now, they have turned into corporate/nationalistic excesses that are much more obscene than a real, nude competition would be. And while I am torn by the use of them for "political" statements (depending on whose statement is being made - Yea Tommie & John), getting back to the original purpose of injecting some reason into the world would not be a bad thing.

It might even "civilize" us a little.

12. One aspect of that proposal would creep me out.

The female gymnasts always look like little girls.

Watch for freeper viewership to increase tremendously if this idea were to go through.

15. Well, some of them are girls
I was noticing that they are more muscular now, they used to be so skinny it was frightening. Well, except for the Chinese, they still look very thin.

Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 02:08 PM by YOY
But Gary Glitter could buy up all the seats in the arena for what it's worth...there's a nasty image. An arena full of dirty old men looking at underdeveloped 16 year old girls.

17. And the survey says . . . [X]
Count me out. I have no desire to watch men in bouncing around sports without sufficient support and covering. And the male track contestants might have something to say about any required lack of support as they go about the 100-meter hurdles.

Or the female athlete who just happens to be on her period (to the extent the athletes at this level still have them) so everyone gets to see her string.

Thank you, no.
