HAHAHA - Ted Stevens trial venue won't be changed!
Judge Denies Sen. Stevens's Request to Transfer Corruption Trial

A federal judge ruled today that Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) will face trial in Washington next month, denying Stevens's request to transfer the case to a court in his home state.

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan ruled that moving the trial to a federal court in Alaska would cause "delay and additional expense."

Sullivan had indicated at Stevens's arraignment last month that he was leaning against granting the motion, especially after he had cleared his court schedule to accommodate the senator's request for an early trial date. The trial is set to begin Sept. 22.

He can't have it in Alaska where he has brought in so much pork. Hoist on his own petard too. He wanted a speedy trial, and the judge was disinclined to change the venue too. Ha! GOP corruption on trial before the election.

2. fairer overall if Steven is tried in Washington
He probably has too many in his pocket back in Alaska, and he spends most of his time outside the state anyways.

4. DC juries in Federal Courts
are well-known for doing a thorough and competent job. No OJ Simpson verdicts here - just hard-working, diverse, interesting folks who take their roles very, very seriously.

He never had a chance of getting the venue changed. It's gonna be fun watching that old bastard get his.

Now, let's speculate as to what kind of deal he's going to make to avoid jail time and rat out everyone else.
