John McCain, Luddite
from ThinkProgress:

McCain’s pet peeve: his wife’s ‘obsession’ with technology.»

The AP has released a “pre-convention package” with lists of “25 Things About Obama” and “25 Things About McCain.” Number two on the McCain list is a tidbit from Cindy McCain: Her husband gets annoyed by her interest in technology. Via Politico’s Playbook:

His wife says her obsession with electronic gadgets and technology is one of his pet peeves.

So not only does Cindy have to help McCain send e-mails, but he resents the fact that she takes an interest in e-mail in the first place. Even in his own demographic — white, college-educated men over 65 — McCain is an outlier. According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, approximately three-quarters of this group use the Internet. More on McCain’s disastrous tech policies here.

1. electrical gadgets
I think the "gadgets" his wife is obsessed with are probably merely electrical rather than electronic....keep plenty of batteries on hand Cindy, he's not getting any younger!

2. I just don't understand how you can expect to run the country so ignorantly
I know a number of CEO's of major companies and they are, to a T, very interested in the latest technology and how it can be used to help, or hurt, their companies. It might not be the same across all industries, but for the most part they want to know how they can leverage any new technology, but on top of that....they're just curious people generally and like their toys on top of it.

I worry about people that actively avoid technology. How can they be expected to make intelligent decisions about policy when they don't know what is possible and not. If you're ignorant of the world changing around you, how can you be expected to keep us safe, if you ignore different avenues that can be used to threaten us.

John McCain is dangerous for America.

3. Old white guys love technology
Especially retired military - my Dad and his LST pals (WWII) were the first people I knew with email addresses and BBs. (they vote pretty much (R) too)
I wouldn't have the job I do if they hadn't interested me in exploring the web.

4. I guess John...
doesn't fit into your old white guy category. George isn't computer literate either is he? Must have something to do with how high up you are on the food chain.

5. He (McCaint) ain't a regular old white guy
I was going along with the general theme of "He don't get it"

I had to think about John & George, (Beatles?) (my Dad & Cousin?). I never hear anybody use their given names like that...

I think they aren't so much "High" on the food chain as they are "High" on "Look at Me pay you to do my thinking". Or, Mr. High & Mighty, as my auntie said, or maybe just "High" (see: Cindy, Laura, etc, etc)

6. Imagine a President who doesn't know anthing about Google
I mean, maybe being from the Navy and all maybe he prefers to use morse code as the newest way to gain and disseminate information.

I guess that's what the help is for. With all those houses he must plenty of help.

Bush and McCain are both luddites. It's unbelievable that the person who leads a country can be such a C student in everything! It's remarkable that people don't see that C students are mediocre at best, AT BEST!
