Sen. Stevens loses his cool during call-in radio program

http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/08/indicted-senato.html

Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, was pretty combative during an appearance yesterday on Talk of Alaska, a call-in show on the Alaska Public Radio Network.

Here's what happened after the host, Steve Heimel, agreed with Stevens when he refused to answer specific questions about the allegations contained in a federal indictment that accuses him of lying on financial disclosure forms.

Caller: Excuse me, Steve, but the senator is a big boy and can take care of himself. He's been in the game a long time.

Stevens: You're damned right I can take care of myself. Any time you want to come, friend.

Caller: Well I'm here right now and I'd like to keep talking about why you aren't accountable to the people of the state of Alaska ... {crosstalk}

Stevens: I am accountable, I'll be accountable next Tuesday and I'll be accountable on November 4. I'm sure you won't be voting for me, but I know thousands and thousands of Alaskans who disagree with you.

2. Ted was pretty testy
on last night's public TV candidates debate, too. I think he's feeling a little pressured these days.

3. Cranky old fart.
I think I can say that, being a cranky old fart myself. They are going to get you this time Stevens! Why don't you take a long ride on a short bridge to nowhere?

6. Is this on the series of tubes yet?
Man I would love to hear this exchange.

"I'll quit (the Senate) if I don't get my bridge to nowhere!!!"

Why didn't they all just say, "don't let the door hit you in the ass."?

LOL
