Newt's Zipper Issue
WP: Newt's Zipper Issue

Hypocrisy or honesty?

Does this mean Newt is running?

Will he be asked about this during his Fox News gigs?

We all sort of knew that Gingrich was having an affair back in the late '90s--and not just with anyone, but with a woman on the House payroll. After all, he ended up marrying the woman after breaking up with his second wife, Marianne.

Since he was leading the impeachment charge against Bill over Monica at the time, this might be seen as an example of . . . how shall I put it? . . . a flexible morality? But Newt kind of got a pass because he was out of office when this came out and yesterday's news. Unlike today, when he is contemplating a run for president. (Possible slogans: I'll return fun to the Oval Office? My mistress was better looking than Clinton's?)...

***

"Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity. 'The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge,' the former Georgia congressman said of Clinton's 1998 House impeachment on perjury and obstruction of justice charges. 'I drew a line in my mind that said, 'Even though I run the risk of being deeply embarrassed, and even though at a purely personal level I am not rendering judgment on another human being, as a leader of the government trying to uphold the rule of law, I have no choice except to move forward and say that you cannot accept . . . perjury in your highest officials.' "

Right, it wasn't about the sex, it was about the perjury. Whereas Gingrich's affair was only about the sex.

1. So, Newt, it's okay to cheat but just don't lie in front of a judge about it?
:eyes:

2. What I don't get is.. Newt did resign
and I thought it was because it was revealed, then, that he was just another hypocrite. And his successor Livingston? - had the same problem and left immidately, too. So why is this now "news?"

4. No, he resigned because of some book deal he had, and nothing
to do with his affair.

9. The process is called "inoculation"
By bringing it up again, and having Newt apologize, if someone says--"Say, Newt, whassup with those blow jobs under the Speeeeeekah's desk?" he can wave his hand and say "Already asked and answered. You are beating a dead horse. Move ON. Get OVER it."

Of course, what really needs to be cracked open is his serial cruelty to his exes. Wife Number One, in hospital for uterine cancer, and he waltzes in to divvy up the divorce spoils. He was a shit in the child support department too (quite a bit more serious than a few parking tickets, that). Then, wife Numbah Two, she got a little long in the tooth, got multiple sclerosis, so he traded her in for a new, young-enough-to-be-his-daughter, model. Numbah Two, though, got him GOOD. And Newt's very own staff (workers, not his penis) who were true believers, disillusioned after Newt was so shitty to the woman who remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and sent gifts when children were born to the staffers and their families, well, they tipped Marianne off, and helped her get some goooooooooood evidence that made for a better pay day when the divorce trial fired up. Calista, the young lady involved, had to take the stand and 'stipulate to sexual contact' in order to avoid having to detail every BJ and hump on the Speeeeekah's conference table. And Marianne's lawyer was ready to make her do precisely that. I think Marianne got half, before the trial even STARTED. It was probably closer to 70 percent by the time the gavel came down.

What's that Ivana said? "Don't get mad, dahlinK, get EVERYTHING!"

6. And he was quoted as saying,
perhaps to his friends, that she was too old and not attractive enough to be a first lady.

What a scum.

11. Bad as that is, it doesn't explain his failure to pay support, leaving her to face power turned off!
Bless her church members for helping her with her power bills!

The newt just wanted her to wander off and disappear, evidently. He just couldn't be troubled with making those support payments to a women trying to fight cancer.

Cold S.O.B. Cold and incredibly selfish.

NEVER forget him shutting down the government in a tantrum about Clinton not letting him ride up front in the office of Air Force One when Clinton had a eulogy to write on the way to a state funeral. The newt has some serious ego issues.

5. This is nothing more than a "can we move on" moment
When he is asked anbout it after he announces for Pres. he will say "I spoke earlier about a difficult time in my life and I would like to move on to the issues that affect everyday Americans". And unlike the swiftboat-liers the MSM will play all is forgot.

8. "...a difficult time in my life..." It was a difficult time for the rest of us as long as you were
in office.

7. Honesty? Nah, he sees championship-philanderer Rudy Giuliani doing well in the polls
The newt figures a wayward member is the ticket to popularity.

All part of the newt's insistence that perception trumps substance every time. This is the shit he taught up & coming GOP candidates for years.

Rudy, a socially left-leaning GOP hack with a penchant for going public with his philandering, is polling well among Republicans. The religious far right 'family values' crowd is losing influence. What the newt once felt was a personal liability and tried to hide, now appears to be a strong selling point so he trots it out on display. Hey, America, look! I have the morals of a tom cat! I LOVE extra-marital sex! I'm a sexual outlaw! I could be president!

He is just an egocentric infant desperately screaming LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!

13. You could be right. Maybe we could brand the GOP with this zipper issue.
They've asked for it by holding themselves up as the party of morality.

14. Root of Newt and Hairless Rudy
Edited on Sat Mar-10-07 12:14 PM by Hubert Flottz
John McCain kisses George's booty...Bubble bubble toilet trouble, America's in a world of Mitt!

Edit...It don't spell good for America! Will Arnold deliver California for the GOPers in 08, by way of the conjured up electronic vote scam?

15. Were Newt elected, would she be the "First Mistress" or the "Second Lady"??
I guess I've never understood how anyone would marry someone shown to be a marital cheat or adulteress. How the hell could the marriage vows be taken seriously?

16. As long as Newt is stroking Callista's ego and giving her
all kinds of money, she's not worring about being pitched over the side yet. Callista can remain oblivious to Newt's history and reputation.
