Sam Cooke was 44 years ahead of his time
I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

I go to the movie and I go downtown
Somebody keep telling me don't hang around
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

Then I go to my brother
And I say brother help me please
But he winds up knocking me
Back down on my knees

Ohhhhhhhhh.....

There been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

MY LINE ADDED!
Because the change has come!

2. I'm a screewriter (well, aspiring)
After I'm done writing my 4th (on the Bisbee Deportation of 1917) and 5th (on the Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah), I was considering it.

Right now, I'm trying to get my one Camp Grant Massacre in Arizona sold.

3. My favorite song
Obama should use it in his rallies, although I guess it's a little bit too sad & sweet for that.

8. There are several Obama videos set to this tune
if you look in the Political Videos section here or on You Tube you will find them.

4. In the Spike Lee movie "X", when Malcolm is driving to the
meeting where he will be killed, this song is playing on the car
radio.
I thought this was a very moving touch for this scene.

7. Love Sam Cooke; he's all over my iPod. Growing up, my Mom listened to him,
and now it's so cool to hear my 12-year-old and 5-year-old singing "Cupid" and "Another Saturday Night".:-)
