these are the moments that remind me why i do this; reminds me why i care; reminds me what is decent about human beings.

being a democrat. seeing ted and remembering all he's done.

it literally brings me to tears: tears of hope and tears of joy in the belief that opportunity and the american ideal is not lost.

we're such nice, optimistic, and selfless people. democrats want to make sure everyone is healthy, everyone is educated, everyone is safe, everyone has a chance in life. democrats are the party of looking after our elders through social security; we're the party that looks after the well-being of the least among us through medicare and medicaid; we're the party that ensures kids get a boost in life through head start; democrats wrote the declaration of independence and defeated the greatest evil the world has ever seen in world war ii.

and we're only getting started.

it says we understand humans are social creatures, that we care and empathize. so really, if you think about it, being a democrat is demonstrating a fundamental understanding of being human
