Contrast between the Kerrys and the McCains.
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 08:48 PM by ColbertWatcher
Watching John and Teresa Kerry answer stupid questions from David "Stretch" Gregory, I am struck at the differences between that classy couple and the power-hungry attention whores, the McCains.

Besides the obvious and genuine affection the Kerrys show each other, what other differences are there between the Kerrys and the McCains?

2. Voting records. The most important distinction. I don't care about the
non-voting women they're married to.

3. Teresa is a brilliant, classy woman
who has used her wealth to do a lot of good.

I can't say I know that much about Cindy though.

4. Kerry respects women. McCain doesn't! Mccain refered to Cindy as a C*nt. Kerry loves THK and
it shows.

McCain offers Cindy for topless biker debauchery.

Kerry respects THK for her mind and her voice.

7. I can't imagine Kerry treating any woman the way McCain does.
I just can't imagine it. That's why they couldn't even find an ex-girlfriend to talk badly about him in 2004.

But what's really neat is how he lights up when he looks at her. :)

5. Well,
The Kerrys were both incredibly articulate and eloquent even off the cuff

The Kerrys were completely there to support Obama's effort, including the awkward question about 2004.

Teresa looked elegant and lovely - for all her money, Cindy often does not come close to elegant.
JK looked at THK as she answered and visa versa

10. Kerry's response to the 2004 question was really good.
He came across as very natural and thoughtful and heartfelt about it. It was really a strong statement, I thought, of just how much it's become his mission to help get Barack elected; and how much he values that mission, as much as being President himself.

6. Kerrys vs. McCains
The Kerrys:

"I think culturally we're going through a huge change," Heinz Kerry said. "I look at it in a human context because I have friends in those situations, and it's terrible. All we owe people is dignity, respect and civil rights. I think the country will evolve."

"If you like the Bush tax cut and what it's done to our economy, making wealthier people wealthier and the average middle class struggle harder, then John McCain is going to give you a third term of George Bush and Karl Rove," the Massachusetts senator added.

The McCains:

Video: Countdown: Miss Buffalo Chip...Or Take My Wife Please!!

John McCain's temper is well documented. He's called opponents and colleagues "shitheads," "assholes" and in at least one case "a fucking jerk."...

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain's intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, "You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt." McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.

The McCain campaign had also put out the story that Mother Teresa "convinced" Cindy to bring home two orphans from Bangladesh in 1991.

Mrs. McCain, it turns out, never met Mother Teresa. (Once contacted by the Monitor, the campaign revised the story on its website.)

11. Teresa spent her early years assisting her father's mission to bring healthcare to African villages
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 09:36 PM by blm
where there was no access to medical help.

She risked her life protesting apartheid in the South Africa of the 60s.

She speaks five languages fluently and worked for the UN. She would be an accomplished woman WITHOUT the Heinz fortune. But she uses the billion dollar trust to fund serious advancements for environmental causes and bringing healthcare to US neighborhooda still lacking for quality medical attention in the United States. She is a very outspoken promoter of PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE.

15. Where Cindy is ready a figurehead in her company, Teresa is
genuinely involved in leading her foundation.

I was blown away by the story told in 2003, that she noticed a trend in Kerry's test scores and said that it didn't look right - even though it was in the normal range. JK, took her concern seriously and had the doctor do more tests - likely saving his life, or at least his health.

It was in South Africa itself where she protested apartheid in the 60s. What is clear on all the things you list there is a partnership of equals - two very dedicated, brilliant people.

Though there are errors in this article (Kerry is one of 4 kids) from people from 1996, but it is a nice view of them a dozen years ago.

20. As vibrant as ever. Funny how shortly after media came out of their fascist closet, Kerry went from
being a charismatic, gutsy and noble lawmaker to boring and empty....all courtesy of Fascist-R-Us.

12. Aren't the Kerrys great?
What differences other than the fact that JK would never call his wife vulgar names?

Teresa has done more for her home town than anyone I can think of, speaks several languages, is a well known philanthropist and sponsors an annual Women's Health and the Environment Conference. Her husband is a brilliant liberal Senator and a great patriot.

And they're just too adorable together.

14. John Kerry respects the rights of his daughters -
John McCain wants to take his daughter's rights away.

Teresa adores her family. Cindy lies about the existence of her own sister.
