"It's premature to say that it was a valid threat or that these folks have the ability to carry it out," said a U.S. government official familiar with the investigation. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing

I remember when a black comedian did a skit about Jesse Jackson running for office... and dodging assassin bullets. Comedians often get us to laugh at the truth. From the start of his primary presidential campaign, Obama has had Secret Service escorts. Did you think this was OVERKILL???

One of the sad things about Martin Luther King Jr. is that deep down he knew that someone would eventually kill him. In some of his later speeches, he compared himself to Moses, delivering others to the Promised Land, but not getting there himself.

I get shushed when I say it out loud, so I don't mention the high probability of multiple attempts on Obama's life. If he's not out and out killed, there will be a ton of "Bradys" rolling around in wheelchairs. I've seen the Secret Service on the job, and the men and women who guard our public servants and their families are some of the most dedicated people in our country.

My worst nightmare is that he'll be killed at the Convention. Four days to go. And then, I'll still be afraid that he'll be shot before November 4th. Robert Kennedy the Second. With Hillary stepping in to bridge the gap.

And I'm not sure I want Joe Biden, a 6 term senator, for president.

Deep down, I can't believe that I'm the only one who *knows* that there will be many people who think about killing Obama, and more than one who will try.

Remember, this is a black man running for president, and we are the country that lynched black men for daring to look at white women less than 100 years ago. Some of the boys and girls who went to those "lynching parties" are still alive. And some aren't ashamed of that part of their country's history. There are people who are still bitter about Affirmative Action, still believing that some black person cheated them out of an education or a job. And, last... we have somehow produced a new generation of people who, every once in a blue moon, go on a shooting rampage "just for the heck of it". We have had two young men blow up a Federal Building in Oklahoma "just for the heck of it". We've had people "go postal".

There's a d*mned good reason why Obama has secret service protection. And at this point, I hope he'll consider wearing a vest. My sickest thought is that someone would go after his family.

The death penalty would not be good enough for such an individual.
