Have Dems given up on talking about ending Bush's war? |
|
My friend Alice asked me to post this on DU. Thanks.
2008 Price of The Bush War in Iraq By 70-year-old grandmother, poet
For struggling Americans --
a Three-TRILLION-Dollar splurge.
For Halliburton cronies --
huge sweetheart deals converge.
For over 4,000 U.S. troops –
a solemn funeral dirge.
For old-time pols –
fixation on a surge.
As Iraqis shout us OUT,
we ARE their scourge.
As ever more Al Qaeda
in Afghanistan resurge,
No More McSame, McBush,
the people urge
as the TOTAL White House Group
they vow to purge.
-- As Americans in vast numbers
now collectively converge
with their once-in-a-lifetime
vote for transformation to emerge,
McLost-it-in-November becomes
a Grand Old Party dirge --
as a strong and risen people
lead their history-making SURGE!

8. I didn't watch today.. |
|
but I watched all the speeches yesterday, and I am certain that the war was brought up. I guess if it's not on the soap opera shows, it didn't happen?

To most of them we're just "idiot liberals" as Obey calls us.

And I just might get a little pinkly active if we don't see some "change" real soon after January 20.
There will be no "we don't have enough votes" excuse then (my humble prediction).
And that war had better end.

6. The surge worked...so what? |
|
Does that mean we went for the right reasons anyway???? OK. We as Democrats were wrong about the surge. But W has been wrong all along on attacking Iraq. I guess most Democrats think we need a good exit so that we dont embolden the terrorist. But I do notice that Obama is now calling for a slower withdrawal.
I read someone say that we voted them in so they got what they wanted. I have to agree. The party is slowly turning their backs on us and our demands. That is why some are moving towards the Green party.

Is that why we're still there? Too bad Joe Lieberman is the one vote that makes the Democrats have the majority.
