Cow pissing on a flat rock .. thank you Fay! |
|
The clouds are so thick I've lost my Direct-TV signal. I've already had 4" of rain in my gage, and more rain bands are coming. Thank goodness I checked out the sump pumps this morning!

so you're certainly not alone.

11. Gustav the spoiler .. already affecting my Labor Day plans. |
|
We were taking my 88 year-old dad to my brother's beach house at Grayton Beach (next door, more-or-less, to Cheryl Crow). The last planned family trip down there was canceled by my mother's stroke on 5/3 (she died on June 26). Dad loves the beach and is antsy to get down there. We are antsy to take him, too. But we have a family history of avoiding hurricanes.

5. 4" is nothing - we got 20" over the weekend and it is still freaking raining |
|
The ground is so saturated that the power company cannot get into the power pole to find out why we don't have power - it's been off since Friday and we finally gave up and checked into a motel tonight to have a cool dry room and hot showers - and internet. We're having highs in the 90s, lows in the upper 70s low 80s with 80-99% humidity. We got about 2" of rain just this afternoon.
Places in the area that have never had flooding are under water. Rivers are several feet above the previous record highs. If Gustav comes in here, after Fay stalled over us, the area will be shut down for a month.

|
the Okie panhandle is getting some relief. I've been out of the country for awhile. All my husband tells me is that "It's been friggin' raining again". Good luck ya'll.

You'd think he'd steer this storm toward Denver or something.
