MADDOW MADNESS......Rachel Maddow's Curious Interest In Fox News
Holy crap.....look what I found: (upon further review....don't bother)

Though it was just a minor point (and exclusive scoop) made in our piece on Rachel Maddow's move to a full-time position at Keith Olbermann's MSNBC, word that she lobbied for a similar position at the Fox News Channel has raised eyebrows in cyberspace.

That proved especially true as another inside source independently confirmed our report, which then appeared in Jossip and TVNewser:

Was Rachel Maddow being shopped to Fox News? That's what Radio Equalizer hinted at, and Jossip confirms from a "reputable insider" today.

"Maddow's agent, Jean Sage at TV Talent (also Keith Olbermann's agent), asked to send her tapes over to FNC's head of programming, Bill Shine, we're told by a reputable insider," writes Jossip. "But Shine declined."

Jossip does point out this very easily could have been, "negotiating tactics"...but FNC?

Maddow's bizarre interest in Fox News raises many questions, so many that it's hard to know where to begin.

How about here: what in the world was she thinking? Did Maddow wonder for even a moment about how all twelve of her Air America listeners would react?

What if they had actually hired her? Would the left be so quick to shower her with praise?

And if Fox is so evil, as Air America hosts are constantly maintaining, why is it okay to work there?

3. So she sent her tapes to MSNBC's competitor during a ...
contract negotiation. It sounds like a standard negotiating ploy. No big deal.

4. I think the point made is that was never going to happen
...because FAUX isn't 'fair and balanced'. Maddow and her agent knew she'd be turned down.

5. maybe she wanted an alternate opinoin on fox. Maybe she was curious about how far an interview
would take her. She is not a sell out.

6. I would wager
that she knew folks like you and me would be talking about it, so it could be publicity. Maybe she thought she might affect some change at Faux.

"All twelve" of her listeners? Maddow's informed-but-madcap caffeinated rants are going to be missed (I am cable-free).

7. If anyone could have gone into FOX and kicked ass...

...she could have. She knows how to shut down a bloviating neocon in 2 seconds flat. Which is why she knew they'd never take her.

9. What a dumb post.
Is this the beginning of some anti-Rachel backlash? "Twelve listeners"? This is wacky stuff.

10. It Was A Double Dog Dare
Maybe Maddow was daring Fox to show they really could be "fair and balanced" by hiring her. After all, the only commentator they have who isn't a conservative is Comes and let's face it - he comes across as kind of wussy compared to the others.

Not Dr. Maddow. She's sharp, witty and speaks her mind. Had Fox hired her, it would demonstrate that they weren't as bad as we all thought (notice I didn't say it would mean they were good) and were genuinely willing to give progressives a voice.

13. I like your theory
Fox would run screaming from her anyways.

She has the credentials AND the credibility to DESTROY their cherished little talking points.

She would be like Alan Colmes on amphetamines.

No, wait, Alan Colmes on amphetamines would still be Alan Colmes.

Wes Clark survived his time there.

14. BTW, the guy who writes Radio Equalizer is a RW loon of the first
order and has always hated AAR. It's like taking the word of World Nut Daily.

16. Bingo...
This sounds like a story being astroturfed by Faux to try to discredit her among the Progressive and Liberal community; try to frame her as being another alan colmes.

Broadcasting is an incestuous world...look at how many people jump from one network to another...play one off against the other. If an "overture" to Faux was made, I suspect it was a negotiating ploy...a game to see if Faux would be willing to pay to put Rachel on the shelf...as they've done with others (Geraldo is a good example...he's hidden away and getting a nice paycheck for not appearing on another channel). Or, even more likely is her agent went out for lunch with an acquaintance at Faux and the subject came up for shits and giggles to see what type of reaction it would get...and the story then was astroturfed to this right wing site.

In the end, it doesn't matter...Rachel's signed, sealed and delivered to MSNBC. Also, I suspect that AAR will not be around much longer (sadly 12 listeners may be an accurate number...Jones and NovaM are now the major players in Progressive Talk radio). I suspect that with all her new responsibilities at MSNBC, she may not have the time to do radio as well...especially a show that currently airs against her new show.

15. Ah lordy!
OK. First off, every single radio talker spent the entire primary cycle trying to get on TV long term. All of them. Rachel accomplished this goal by staying on message and not freaking out and calling people horrid names for wanting to beat their rivals.
Let me be clear. In my view, discussing the possible Rachel tape to Fox is a waste of time. Who cares? What should be looked at are all those talkers who failed to make the move to TV that they were drooling over so badly. I tell you, Rachel is pretty much the only radio person I have any respect left for after watching them all spew and accuse and divide in attempts to set themselves apart and gain that gold. Radio talent that I adored spent the last year trolling and yes, being media hoes while calling others just that.
Rachel And Thom. I still like Thom when he keeps the ad mentality down. He markets way too much, but he's smart and worth it.

Rachel rose above them all, and I am double plus happy about it, turns out calling good people by slanderous names and shouting at your callers while naming great Democrats 'vermin' is not really the way to get to the big time at all.
As for the rest of them, are they still on the air? I would not know. I want to elect Democrats, and that is my goal. Those radio folks wanted for themselves, to hell with the country. Much of the division we have endured in this Party comes direct from the laranx line up at AAR.

19. I don't know if it's true she was actually trying to get a spot as the ultimate goal,
but if it is I wouldn't think any less of her. She would be the ultimate Trojan horse. My only concern is that they would micromanage everything she did and would purposely try to make her fail, thereby discrediting her and taking her rising star and turning it into a shooting star.

If anything, we should be trying to get REAL progressives on that channel. I know the theory is that that would lend them credence, but unfortunately lots of people think it's actual news. Unbiased, no less. Right now, all they have are straw men they can beat senseless every night and mouth breathers rest easy thinking that's what a real liberal is.

20. She was never planning on working there
She burned her bridges with FOX News one time when she was hosting Countdown. Talked about how the first time FOX News contacted her, they wanted her to come on and discuss the Britney-Madonna kiss.
