A counterspin for our NotFriends in the media who are whining about Hillary's speech ....... |
|
First of all, mind your own fucking business. You're spinning this to make a story where none exists. Please interpret this in the sense in which it was said - essentially a monumental 'fuck you, mediamotherfuckers'.
But I digress.
You've all been yammering that her speech did nothing wrong, but that it also did nothing more than what it absolutely had to do. A proforma speech delivered brilliantly. It was even specifically suggested that she could have left out the parts about the people she met while running (the single mom of two autistic kids, the marine, the minimum wage single mom, etc.) and used that time to speak in the first person about how much she loves Obama.
Consider this, you dimwits. Most of Hillary's supporters are way ahead of you. They're there to vote for Obama. They may not love him. They may never love him. But they're there and they'll vote for him because of what he stands for - pretty much as Hillary said last night.
The speech was aimed, really, at a small group who still haven't made the change the vast majority already have. For her to heap effusive praise on a man she criticized not very long ago would be to essentially say to these people "I think you're stupid and shallow and malleable and manipulable and bereft of the skills of critical thinking." I think the essential kernel of her speech is the line asking whether they supported her for her .... or for the issues.
**That** was the essence of the speech. Not the superficial crap the media shitbirds are all clucking about.
Is the Democratic Party all Kumbaya and sweetness and light and unity and love and hugs?
Who the fuck cares?
The party will do what it needs to do.

1. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Hillary's speech. |

I do not think it was appropriate for her to gush about Obama; that speech was not aimed at the general population who are undecided about him. It was a rally cray for her followers and all Democrats.
I am not a fan of Hillary's but she was great last night. I even got a bit choked up when she quoted Tubman.

The only people with bigger egos than politicians are the beltway corporate mediatypes. I laughed the other night at how self-absorbed CNN has become...they had to have that shitstain John King and his silly magic map on the convention floor.. Then there have been interviews where the shot is more focused on the stenographer than it is on the person being interviewed...nothing shows their arrogance worse than the cadre of talking heads they have on who waste hours on end speculating and pontificating...with little more than their pre-concieved storlines and talking points. It's a circle jerk based on their games of playing telephone with one another and going to the same drinkie-drinkie parties.
Now did you really expect Hillary's speech, no matter how powerful, would stop them from being obsessed with the Clenis? Far from it...they couldn't keep the cameras off Bill and all the spinning began as to what he'll say or do...with the hopes by some he'll get out there and make a fool of himself.
And then there was the bum's rush to find a PUMA, any PUMA who would further their meme of party division. I'll be curious if they bring on Paulbots in Minneapolis...and there'll be a lot of 'em there...far more than the so-called PUMAs.
I had to laugh when I saw Chicken Noodle Nuze rush to find anyone with a Hillary button on the convention floor after the speech and try to goad them into the "it wasn't enough" game. One delegate, with a Hillary button, put them in their place...you could just hear the stenographer/talking head's frustration cause they weren't playing along.
Here's the Catch 22...the portryal is either the Democrats are wusses or, if the red meat is really thrown, how mean they are. There's no balance here...just spin and bullshit....and I agree with you, many tuning in are not just smarter than these bubbleheads, they're getting tired of the games.
Cheers...

4. That group - no matter what she said - was going to complain |
|
about it in some way.
I think this particular complaint - "not personal enough" is baloney. And shows how little they had to work with in looking for things to complain about. She gave them nothing - so they have to go after silliness like that.
