1. Heh - the campaign should have a sign-replacement program.

3. Don't feel too bad. Maybe they were a big fan and they live in
a higher traffic area. At least you can tell yourself that.

5. In '04 I actually caught the thieves in my yard
I was driving down the street and spotted a big SUV with w sticker on the back. I pulled around it and blocked traffic. I live on a busy street so cars started to back up quickly.

I demanded they put my sign back and give me the rest of them or I was calling the cops. Made a real big scene in front of a lot of people. Considering the number of republicons that live in my neighborhood it gave them a view of the tactics their party uses.

I think I will electrify mine this year, grab that wire, get a jolt.

20. They handed me all the signs they had in their SUV
Funny thing is, those wires get a little rusty after being in the elements and as they passed the signs though the window, the rust got all over the inside of their SUV.

12. ROTC stole 200 Kerry signs in my neighborhood
They were caught red-handed with the pick-up truck full of them at their headquarters. Their commander was a bit embarassed. My sign was the only handpainted one so readily recognizable. Nice to know the military condones such actions by future officers.

The thieves are a strange demographic! SUV driving asshole. Hope you made him run out of gas blocking him in like that!!! Good on you!!

14. Actually ROTC is supposed to have an honor code that forbids such behavior. They should have gotten
punished, if not expelled for that by that code.

17. Well, at least you got your sign back and the wrongdoers got punished. It woulda sucked if neither
happened.

18. Was it ROTC or JROTC?
College boys or high school punks?

When I was in JROTC in high school way back during the Reagan era they did the same thing.

Much to my credit, I refused to participate (though I'd like to say it was because I was budding progressive back then - I wasn't - it was because I've always had a thing about not messing with private property & tresspassing).

6. Everybody needs to revenge their signs
Whiz some habanero peppers in the blender with a little oil and water. Wearing gloves, paint the mixture on the sign on the top and sides where sign thieves will grab it.

No, you won't save the sign. However, when they rub their eyes or pee, you will have your revenge.

If you can't find habaneros, you can always use cayenne.

This is painful but not harmful.

The only other thing you can do is keep a webcam trained on the sign and record which pudgy white guy is doing the thieving.

9. That's ok. I'm up to my 4th sign.
And I have a cop on one side as a neighbor, a deputy chief of the local fire department as another, and my across the street neighbor is a city council member.

Of course, they can't have "political" signs.

Celebrate if you keep 'em 2 weeks! I'll buy the champagne!

Keep the faith!
