Sarah Palin and tall
Looking at her bio, I think McCain missed the boat by not picking my sister as his running mate. My little sister, unlike Sarah Palin, at least has a Master's degree and about twenty years of teaching experience. I mention my sister because she and Sarah are about the same age, both being born in February of 1964.

But seriously, Sarah's resume is kinda plain.

A BA degree in journalism from the University of Idaho
On the city council of Wasilla (population 5,470 in 2000 census) from 1992-96
Mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002
On the Ethics Commission of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission 2003-04
Governor of Alaska from 2006 to the present.

I thought I would compare that resume with some of the women McCain didn't pick

* Elizabeth Dole

Harvard Law degree and Masters in education and government from Harvard
6 years in the U.S. Senate
Secretary of Transportation - 4 years
Secretary of Labor - 2 years
President of the Red Cross - 8 years

Much more impressive resume, but I heard Elizabeth apparently has Alzheimer's disease. My sympathies to the Doles. Although Alzheimers did not stop Reagan from seeking and winning the Presidency in 1984, I can see why McCain did not pick Dole.

* Condoleeza Rice

BA from the University of Denver (at age 19)
MA University of Notre Dame
PhD from Graduate School of International Studies in Denver
professor of political science at Stanford 1981-1999
Provost at Stanford 1993-1999
National Security Advisor - 2001-05
Secretary of State - 2005 to present

I am sure there are others. Not to mention some men he might have picked.

* Mike Huckabee

BA degree in Religious studies
1993-95 Lt. Governor of Arkansas
1996-2006 Governor of Arkansas

* Mitt Romney

MBA and law degree from Harvard
CEO and founder of Bain Capital
CEO of 2002 Winter Olympics
Governor of Massachusetts 2002-06

Even Lynn Jenkins, who is running for Congress in Kansas, looks more qualified.

BA in accounting with economics minor
Certified Public Accountant for 20 years
two years in Kansas House
four years in Kansas Senate
Kansas State Treasurer 2003-present.

Seriously, this was the best they could do? I gotta question his judgement.

1. Qualifications had nothing to do with this selection
Qualifications mean nothing to the GOP. They play these selections based on some agenda. It is our task to figure out what it is and expose it before they can carry it through.

2. I guess he didn't want to fall into the same trap as W
Maybe didn't want to be outsmarted by his sidekick? Since he was in the bottom of his graduating class, a high achiever would outshine him.

On the other hand, it's got to be said, a lot of people with single degrees and no degree have more smarts than people with the whole alphabet behind their name!

4. she's not a low acheiver, nor necessarily stupid
she got elected Governor, defeating both an incumbent and a former Governor. So she probably held her own in some debates.

Still, she is a long way from having the education and experience to be hailed as the "most qualified" person to be VP, to be ready to serve as President if something happened to McCain.

3. Dan Quayle redux
It seems to me McCain wants a VP who will follow his agenda to the letter.

7. I knew Dan Quayle.
She's no Dan Quayle

* Dan Quayle

Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University
Director of the Inheritance Tax division of the Indiana Department of Revenue 1973-74
two terms in U.S. House
8 years in the U.S. Senate

Compare 12 years in Congress to two years as Governor and 9 years as a small town council member. Quayle has way more education and experience than Palin.

6. From what I can gather,
This lady leaves bodies in her wake; she's being investigated for trying to fire a man who wouldn't fire her sister's ex. She has a tendency to be very aggressive.
