Sarah Heath Palin heiress to Hershey fortune.

Heath Brothers Confectionery was established in Robinson, Illinois, in 1914. The recipe for the HEATH English toffee bar was perfected by the Heath brothers in 1928. In 1932, the Heaths inched their way into the national market and moved their factory to a small town in Idaho.

The candy bar was made completely by hand until 1942 when the plant was modernized. During World War II, the U.S. Government contracted with Heath to produce bars for military distribution. This was the beginning of a new base of consumers.

During the 70s and 80s the business grew and many new products and package types were added. Heath was purchased by Leaf in 1989. The Heath family retained a sizeable number of shares in the company.

Hershey Foods Corporation acquired the Leaf North American confectionery operations from Huhtamaki Oy of Helsinki, Finland in 1996.

2. More info...
I found out the nutritional content of a Heath bar, but I did not find any link between the company and Sarah Palin. Would be nice info though. It would blow the whole "We are the middle class" angle out of the water. Although technically they could still be middle class by McCain's definition of $5 million per year in income.

3. I don't think so.
Everybody with the last name Heath is not a candy heir/heiress.

5. Fine. Then she's... Heath Ledger's mom.
Except her daughter gave birth to him.

4. That doesn't make her heiress to the Hershey fortune.
Besides, wasn't Milton Hershey a philanthropist who gave away most of his fortune?

13. This thread reminds me of when Paul McCartney married Linda
and some media outlets reported that she was the heiress to the Kodak fortune just because her last name was Eastman. Not so--the Eastman who founded Kodak never married or had children. And Linda's father, an entertainment lawyer, was born, coincidentally, an Epstein.

Linda was indeed an heiress, but the fortune came through her mother, who was a Lindner of the old Sterling Lindner department store chain.

14. Indeed...
The Hershey School still exists. Milton Hershey believed that the purpose of running a corporation was to build a community. He was pro-living wage and built the town of Hershey Pa.

I think he would be shocked to know that Hershey candies were recently outsourced.

6. Delightful! Impressive! Rep. James Sensenbrenner's the heir to the Kotex profits, as well!
~snip~
Sensenbrenner, whose $10 million fortune stems from his great-grandfather's invention of the Kotex sanitary napkin, won $250,000 in the lottery in 1997. He also enjoys the perks of office: No congressman has racked up more frequent-flier miles on junkets sponsored by corporate lobbyists. While he was enjoying the good life last year, Sensenbrenner took time out to make life tougher on working families, winning approval for a bill that makes it harder for Americans overwhelmed by debt to declare bankruptcy. The congressman refused to consider an exemption from the bill's restrictions for victims of Hurricane Katrina -- and even voted against the aid package designed to help them recover from the disaster.
