Gifts to Be Donated to Military Families Print Now Printer Friendly

No. 08-142

August 15, 2008, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today announced she will attend a baby shower in Trig Palin’s honor next week and that all gifts will be donated to help military families.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Ties Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization created to provide immediate support for the military families of wounded service members deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. The event is being hosted by local morning radio personalities Bob and Mark from 106.5 KWHL.

“My family has been so blessed by the arrival of Trig. It is my honor to share that blessing with our men and women in uniform through this event,” Governor Palin said. “I invite all Alaskans who'd like to support our wonderful military families to participate.”

The event will take place at Romano’s restaurant, on Fireweed Lane at C Street, on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited. Romano’s restaurant will donate a portion of the sales from the evening to the Family Ties Foundation.

1. What's with the weird names of the Palin kids?
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 06:52 PM by ...of J.Temperance
Her older son is called Track....Track and Trig....WTF?

Who names their kids stuff like that, or are they nicknames?

On Edit: Trig is the Down Syndrome baby, so it's good to see that Sarah Palin is ALREADY starting to use her baby's unfortunate condition as a POLITICAL tool....and she's trying to use the Down Syndrome baby as a POLITICAL tool that involves the Military....disgusting.

These people have no shame, they'll even USE a Down Syndrome baby in an attempt to gain votes.

These people have NO morals.

2. It's almost as bad as people naming their kids "Kaden"/etc.
People simply go out of their way to give their children dumb names....

4. Yeah
Mind you, Palin seems a bit of an airhead, so it's not too surprising she's named her kids dumb names.

6. Did you see the date of that article?
And should the party of Barack Obama be making fun of weird names?

But thanks for the effort.

7. Barack Obama is
A weird name, even Michelle Obama mentioned that in her wonderful speech the other night, I thought it was funny when she said her first thought was:

"Who would name their child something like Barack Obama?"

Lol!

As for the rest, I'm not sure what point it is exactly that you're trying to make:

"Should the party of Barack Obama be making fun of weird names? But thanks for the effort"

Huh? You're saying what again?

8. Trig is a Norse word
for "true" and "brave victory". Kind of fitting for a Downs baby don't you think?

3. Attending Her Own Baby Shower
Isn't that special? Why would soldiers need baby clothing? On second thought, some of their families can probably use it since we pay them so little.

5. Maybe she can say she's giving the baby clothing to the babies of DEAD soldiers killed in
A pointless war that John McCain STILL supports, and in fact wants to send even more troops to Iraq to get killed and maimed.

12. I just have little sympathy now for ANYONE that still supports this CATASTROPHE called the Iraq War
That might seem heartless to some, but you know, too many people have died for absolutely nothing, that includes troops and all of the innocent Iraqi people who've died to have their country remain basically a hellhole.
