13. Amazing show.
Not only because it shows ordinary people taking on the stupidity of other ordinary people, but because it walks you through some aspects of the science.

3. Bull -- look at the fine print on such surveys
Much more sound studies (academically) have been done showing a strong support for evolution. There may be
those who think there's an abstract god force behind it, but evolution is embraced widely.

8. I'm not as optimistic
Imagine if 'Kitzmiller v Dover' had been judged by a jury? I think that judge is still getting death threats.

It's a demon haunted country.

10. It's not a matter of optimism
I'm talking about elaborate, careful academic surveys that show strong support for evolution.

Just because there is an activist base of crazies can't outweigh facts -- they are stubborn things.

14. Look at the all the so-called "Academic Freedom" bills
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 09:26 PM by pokerfan
promoting the teaching of the creation "science" in public schools: Alabama, Oklahoma, Maryland, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Michigan, South Carolina...

Someone is voting for these things.

18. Did you ask for the academic cred of the survey you agreed with?
That link only lead to a cursory overview. If you just want to embrace that study on an emotional level, be my
guest but it's fraught with push poll psychology and bigotry. Before we make sweeping, damning indictments of
ANY culture/ethnicity, we ought to have all the facts. All the facts are not in that study. It's not my job
to inform you. Think whatever you like.

9. Yes..even the Gallop Poll in the link (from 2001)..
had 45% believing that people appeared instantly 10,000 years ago. 49% believed they evolved; 6% had no opinion. The 49% included people who believed that God was involved in some way in the process but indicated that they believed that evolution was the process.

In 1982, 44% indicated that people appeared instantly 10,000 years ago as well.

This is a question which is highly influenced by phrasing.

Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 09:01 PM by Middle finga
been dumb down to the point where future generations better be prepared for lower standards of living. Becaused this country citizens haved regressed when compared to past generations. What other industrialized nation will reject their presidential candidate simply because they're perceived to be too intellegent (Elitist) because they talk and carry themselves like they're educated? What kind of dumb shit is that.
