Do you get the feeling that after the holiday, John McCain
Is going to have a press conference to tell the nation that we've all been punked, and Joe Lieberman is his real pick for VP?

Even The Onion would have a hard time writing satire about Palin. The truth about her is so much stranger than any fiction they could invent.

1. The problem with that is that it puts McLame into

a worse situation of having just bullshitted the nation...not that that hasn't happened on a daily occurrence for the past 7+ years.

2. It just seems that picking Palin is bad theater
Or some strange Republican reality show gone horribly awry.

When I first heard the news break about McCain's' VP pick being Palin, I thought it was a joke. It almost seems as if they tried to find the least qualified person.

4. I think everybody else turned him down.
Those rats do want to be on a sinking ship. Palin doesn't know any better.

6. Probably very close to the truth
After Hillary wasn't tabbed by Obama, my feeling is that a woman VP candidate was suddenly the highest priority for the McCain camp.

Trouble is, they must all know the 'real' McCain, and told him either to get lost, or politely declined seeing how hitching themselves to a losing campaign would only damage any future shot at the executive branch they might have.

5. If they were gonna do that
Then they'd just have her "lose" at the roll call at the convention and have the delegates vote for Romney or whoever.

He gets to say he tried (picking a woman), but doesn't have all the negatives that went with her.
