11. I Saw Him With The Pennsylvania Delegation

C-SPAN had their cameras there (probably on their website) where you could see all his emotions and convictions on display. He was among old friends and he poured his heart out for his concerns for the working man...the "average Joe" like his father and many others from that hardscrabble state who instilled a solid work ethic in their kids as well as a healthy respect for unions.

The pundits talk about his foreign relations or judiciary experience, but there's been little focus on how he's been a champion for the "little guy"...especially firefighters, police, teachers and many other unions that is sure to make a big difference this November. I honestly think the Democrats sewed up Pennsylvania with that pick as well as Michigan and made big strides in Ohio and even Indiana.

There are those who are critical of his banking ties...specifically MBNA...as well as his son's...and it was this area, as well as his Iraq War Resolution vote that made it all but impossible for me to support his candidacy. However, just like any Senator, he needs to bring home "the bacon"...and my hopes are that there will be a time and place, with a more Progressive government in place to start into real reforms that put some distance between politicians and the corporate world. But that's for another day.

A great video, Opi...and a great man and I was extremely pleased when Senator Obama selected him. You can see a genuine friendship between the two, and a truly compassionate man who won't mop up the floor with Palin, he'll just school her. Leave the mopping to Hillary...I suspect when she heard that glass ceiling reference today, it musta rattled her cage.

15. You Know This Place...

We've both been around here enough to know how frantic this place gets at the smallest amount of chum thrown into the water. It's what makes it fun at times...but this election is too important to let the trivial become the dialogue. The corporate media is doing plenty of that. It's nice to have some substance and perspective now and then.

May we all win from strength...a true national grassroots effort, and we have two leaders who are fully capable of winning on their merits, not on the superficial.

That train ride home.

He has to get on the train and share a seat with people.

I doubt he had a private coach or security to keep people away from him.

Maybe they came up to him and asked him questions or maybe he eavesdropped on people talking about their financial situation or whatever.

There was no way he could continue to take the same train with the same people if he was an ass.

That train is like a little community. People make friendships, they gossip about each other, but most importantly they get to know each other.

There's no way he could have done that for 20+ years and be an asshole or prima dona. No way.
