McCain Campaign Announces He Has Only a Few Years Left to Live
From the NYT, via http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/211535.php">Talking Points Memo:

McCain advisor Charlie Black on questions about Sarah Palin's foreign policy competence.

"She's going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years, and most doctors think that he'll be around at least that long."

How many doctors has McCain consulted?

What percentage constitutes "most" - fifty-one percent?

How many doctors think McCain's time is almost up?

I'm not even touching that "foot of the master" stuff.

This whole quote is one of the most flabbergasting things I've ever heard from a presidential campaign.

8. Oooops....Slick Charlie's Done It Again

This isn't the first time Charlie's talked out of school. I wonder if this may trigger a call within the media to push to investigate Gramps medical records. If you'll recall all reporters were able to see was a redacted evaluation that was available for just a few hours and reporters were only allowed to take notes...not copies.

The Palin pick may just spur a deeper look into Gramps real condition. There's a reason the GOOP are so touchy about his age...while they dismissed Raygun's when he ran for his second term in '84...and Raygun was older (73) and had been shot. If anything, Raygun made light of it when he scored big on Mondale during the debates with the "I'm not gonna let your age and inexperience be a factor in this election". Raygun turned a negative to a positive...Gramps people are whining and screetching at the mere mention of his age. Makes one wonder...

Cheers...

9. I don't think there's anything here...
Black was trying to be funny, if you read the rest of the piece...

“She’s going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years, and most doctors think that he’ll be around at least that long,” said Charlie Black, one of Mr. McCain’s top advisers, making light of concerns about Mr. McCain’s health, which Mr. McCain’s doctors reported as excellent in May.

10. DEFINITELY something here - "foot of the master" has Biblical overtones; they compared O to Christ,
so this needs to be answered. PERFECT example of how the Repukes have been taking statements out of context and twisting. Turnabout is fair play

25. Yes, you nailed it, thanks
Perception vs. reality is what I was going for. Not at all interested in what Charlie Black intended, not giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to be funny, not conceding nuance to them any more than they concede it to us. Just taking his statement at face value, because that's what people do, and the GOP knows that's the name of the game.

Thanks for getting it.

15. Stunned in DC
This is one strange statement. This guy earned his lizard skin over decades.

If he's popping off like this, then there's something bigger or this is so FUBAR that he
knows it's over.

I love the investigation into her getting her ex brother in law fired from the state troopers.

She's one vengeful princess ... oops, Pain is one of those folks who must be obeyed;)

27. That's what I think
Even if he is trying to convey confidence by joking, it falls flat. Many a truth revealed in jest, and so on.

And yeah, Palin is a total SWMBO. Being a fundy nutjob usually cancels it out, but being a beauty pageant contestant adds a lot of SWMBO points.

18. So we're the Make-a-Wish foundation now?
He's going to die soon so vote for him and make his wish come true???? They're going for the pity vote?

I think they're trying to laugh us into the voting booth ... either that or McCain likes Jon Stewart
and is trying to keep him supplied with material over the lean Obama years.

22. I don't know what concerns me more...the fact that the McSame camp
thinks that the VP slot is an on-going seminar to learn about things you know nothing about, or that there are doctors out there who think McSame won't make it through his first term.

I hope KO and Rachel pick this up and use this quote next week.

officially, from Mr. Black? If so, it is stunning.
