Palin - issue is abuse of power
her ex-brother-in-law may have been a bastard and deserves to be jailed or worse - but is it proper for a governor to use her office to get him fired?

if palin were not governor - what would be her options, or rather her sister's options?

if this "bastard" were not related to her, would she have done the same thing on behalf of some other woman that came to her seeking help?

sorry, if this is true, and she used her office in this manner, then the issue is abuse of power. If she feels the issue is about protecting women from abuse then she should be pushing for stronger laws, and funding for abused women programs, educating the public etc. -- has she done any of these things to protect women? what's her record on women's rights?

1. exactly, but not following proper procedures the guy could get his job back
and what purpose does that serve? Although this proves she's a run of the mill republican, rules are for others and when they break them their followers see it as a show of strength.

Even when things are done on the up and up sometimes jerks like this get there jobs back through legal channels but the odds go up dramatically when it can be shown that policy wasn't followed.

I knew a correctional officer that molested his children, and because of the short sighted deal that was made ended up back working in the prison system after he served his sentence. The deal was if he went a year without a new offense his record would be expunged. He did his year without a new offense or at least not getting caught so the arbitrator was compelled to give him his job back.

2. raises the question
of being fit to be VP... if this is abuse of power, what does it say about her judgement? would she use the VP office for vindictive reasons?
