Reactions from Hillary supporters in NC
Folks, she's not winning over the Hillary die hards here in NC.

In this article there is the usual supportive blather from all the usual GOP suspects, but then look:

N.C. weighs in on McCain/Palin ticket
Posted: Aug. 29 9:48 p.m.
Updated: Aug. 29 10:54 p.m.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Republican John McCain’s announcement Friday that first-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be his vice presidential running mate has local voters talking.

....

Locals who supported Clinton are questioning McCain’s motives for naming Palin to the GOP ticket.

“I thought he was trying to pull a fast one, trying to get the women that were in Hillary’s camp,” former Clinton supporter Midge Silverman said. The decision to include Palin has not swayed Silverman to support the GOP ticket.

Judy Davis, another former Clinton supporter, said she was not supporting the GOP ticket because of Palin either.

“Not in the least. I don’t go for that kind of ploys,” Davis said.

....

Former N.C. co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s campaign and Obama-Biden supporter Barbara Allen described Palin as being “frighteningly unprepared” for the vice presidential job, much less the presidency.

“She has been mayor of a small town and served for less than two years as governor of a state with fewer people than the Triangle. For John McCain to think that those of us who supported Hillary Clinton will be drawn to him by putting a woman on the ticket is insulting. Choosing a woman as a running mate does not change the reality that John McCain does not support issues that women care about,” Allen said in a statement.

If McCain hoped to siphon off some of Hillary's supporters, it's not going to work.

1. Republicans are gloating right now.

They really do believe they have those 18 million votes sewn up. They hate Hillary's guts, but they wouldn't mind using her supporters for their own ends. I highly doubt they even have a tenth of those votes, but right or wrong, I guess we'll see, won't we?

3. Nadir of repuke belief
I'm beginning to believe that this election will be the nadir of their beliefs about the world, including liberals. They have been feeding themselves so many myths about the world for so long that they don't live in a realistic construct of it, including what drives most women like Hillary and the rest of us.

They're going to be wandering around in a daze on Nov 5 wondering how they could have been so wrong.

5. Bingo.
Well put. That's the story of the Bush regime and the late Republican Congress as well as the McCain campaign.

6. The thing that kills me is that during Palin's acceptance speech she acted like
those 18 million were already betrothed to her....

And has NO CLUE she is the exact opposite of what Hillary stands for.

11. They really do live in a bubble
of their own making.

I too thought it was crass to use Hillary's imagery when she so clearly hasn't earned it.

4. It's hard to say

I'm not going to judge her political aspirations on her grammar. edit: She's not on DU and we need every vote we can get -- even those with imperfect grammar.

And Davis is not voting for the GOP.

7. Oops
I did not read that very carefully. It's a puzzling mistake, maybe she's got ploys filed as a single noun. :) sorry for the grammar police investigation! ;-)

9. De Nada
"ploys" - I'm not sure if that's her actual words or a typing mistake on the web site. Could be either.

The good news is, I don't think Palin is getting within a mile of Hillary's voters. :bounce:

8. No way, no how

I guess the Pubs think Hillary supporters are stupid. Sorry, McBush we can tell the difference between Hillary Clinton and Palin. My family and I were big Hillary Clinton supporters in Pennsylvania, with a few scattered in NC and FLA. There is no way real Clinton Democrats would ever vote for McCain or any of the pubs. No Palin, no way.

Our family members will be voting for Obama.

Let's all pray he wins.

10. Democratic women are not that stupid
and we are not Stepford wives!

That is why we are Democrats, we tend to use our skills (skepticism) and make up our own minds.
