Stephanie Tubbs Jones' memorial service: Wellstone Funeral II?
Carolyn Kilpatrick just delivered a speech at Stephanie's memorial service urging people to vote for Obama. She kept it inspirational and respectful, but I'm just waiting for the Repugs' heads explode again just like they did about Wellstone's funeral. "How dare they use a service for someone dead as an excuse to do that...blah blah blah."

They're so predictable.

1. That cost Mondale the election.
I think Mondale would have won, namely on positive buzz from that funeral, but the positive buzz was undercut by the attacks.

5. Mondale was chosen to run in Paul's place after Wellstone died.

17. That's okay. I tend to blot out 2002 intentionally.
:)

Too damn painful. I still miss Paul.

8. Mondale won that election.
Not to get into that crap, but that election really was stolen ten different ways.

that the repukes fucked with Wellstone's plane...they literally murdered him.

4. It's nothing like the Wellstone funeral
They haven't really said anything against McCain, only their preference for what Stephanie would have wanted and they've done it in a respectful manner.

9. My point exactly.
Merely suggesting at the service that someone should vote for Obama is enough for them to scream bloody murder, so I expect they will.

10. They may, but it probably won't gather much steam
Between the hurricanes, the Palin nomination and the RNC there won't be much attention paid to it. Sadly, most people don't even know who Tubbs-Jones was and I doubt they will care about what happened at her funeral.

12. It wasn't a funeral; it was a memorial gathering
and the Republicans, as usual, lied about it. (I wasn't there, but I watched the whole thing on CSPAN.)

Fortunately or unfortunately, Stephanie Tubbs-Jones is not well-known nationally and whatever election occurs to fill her position will probably not be high-profile enough to trigger the Republican noise machine.
