And an omen, just as I was posting this, my dogs cornered a LARGE roof rat in a wood pile where it was trying to cheat death. As I pealed away the logs, the rat ran out and exposed itself. A real fight for life ensued and for about 5 minutes, with the Jack making the catch, the catahoola getting bit several times on the lips and then the fox terrier carried the droopy trophy around in his mouth after the final teeth gnashing.
