Why is Firefox blocking Icasualties.org?
I got this when I tried to log on.

http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?client=Firefox&hl=en-US&site=http://icasualties.org/oif/

It lists zero threats and blocks it solely because it is "suspicious" Somehow Google is part of this.

2. I would say...
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 12:11 PM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
That someone maliciously reported the site to Google or it has been hacked.

After checking it, I would say that it definitely has been maliciously reported.

On edit: Time for everyone to write Google and pass this information to KO. He'll have a field day with it.

26. Possibility ...

There's some sort of problem with the donate link, which can trigger a false-positive report by the automated crawler. I can't determine what the problem is exactly, just that when you try to go there, and error is reported.

What happened when Google visited this site?

Of the 20 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 08/25/2008, and suspicious content was never found on this site within the past 90 days.

Has this site acted as an intermediary resulting in further distribution of malware?

Over the past 90 days, icasualties.org/oif/ did not appear to function as an intermediary for the infection of any sites.

Has this site hosted malware?

No, this site has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days.

How did this happen?

In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message.

How did what happen?!@ Google found nothing malicious and declared it malicious anyways?

5. Same thing happened a while back for the NAACP site
The consensus here for those in the know came down to this point in the "Why was this site blocked?" page:

How did this happen?

In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message.

25. In that case ...

There was malicious code that had been implanted in the site, an apparently Russian based scam attempting to collect credit card information.

It was down for an entire day while the admins fixed it and looked for the security hole.

It's annoying as hell and indicative of NOTHING.

I'm not too thrilled with Firefox for getting in bed with Google at the moment.... :(

15. I'm only being blocked if redirected from The Google
If you type the url directly into your browser, you get there just fine.

I'd be curious if links to it from other sites might have problems, too, or if it is solely The Google.

It says I can continue on to the page but I can't figure out how to do it. Can't fine a link.

I got in by cutting and pasting the URL given but when I hit donate I was back to the warning page. Hit Ignore message but ended up back at the main page. This is government bullshit.

Geez.

Google is. Why is the question.

OnEdit: It seems to have something to do with the donation link. I'm not sure precisely what's wrong with it, but it is broken. Please note that this is the kind of thing Google's search looks for as it can be indicative of a scam. It's not personal. Icasualties needs to fix its page.

24. Sometimes a web server gets pwned by hackers/malware.
Perfectly good content on the site, with perfectly good people running it, but sometimes, they get hacked, and those sites start sending little presents with their normal content, and Google will detect this and do you a favor.

Typically, if the web site's admins are on their game, they can clean up this mess in a few hours.
