so, I'm taking a break from stacking wood, and our neighbor
from across the street wanders over with a basket of peaches for us...

he notices that I was reading a story on MSNBC about Palin, and he asks what I think about that

so, I tell him the palin pick is pure politics, she brings nothing to a mccain administration, it's just another stunt.

he nods and says, yeah, but she's pro-gun and hunts

me: true, but I'm more concerned about attacks by al-qeada than I am about attacks by al-caribou

he laughs, says he'll remember that, and will tell the guys at work...

...going to go have me a peach now....

18. I got a single peach this year
from my 2 yo trees: apple, peach, and apricot. Could have had more, but late frosts did in the rest.

The first fruit after planting the trees in spring of '06, and it was luscious.

Unfortunately, all my wood is stacked. Unfortunately, because it's my only heat source and I don't have enough to get through winter. I'm working on it, but when the well pump went bad this summer I spent the money budgeted for wood on keeping the water flowing.

That was a great line; I'll remember it, and so will your neighbor.

22. can someone please explain to me why having a gun and being a hunter has to do with anything?
by the way, I'm not anti-gun or anti-hunting for that matter. I just dont get what it has to do with being president, or vp as it were.

26. I live in PA
hunting is a big thing around here. many school districts/businesses close down the monday after thanksgiving for "bucks day"

no, it has nothing to do with christmas shopping, the monday after thanksgiving is opening day for buck (deer) season. so many people take the day off to go hunting that it's not worth it for schools/businesses to open on that day

the local tv stations even have a short "spot" during their newscasts with photos of hunters and their kills...

ennywho - in PA guns and hunting is a really big deal
