I do want to take a bow... This is from DU on May 13th 2008 The thread was titled “Pawlenty As V.P. With McCain” My post was: His VP will be ... Governor Sarah Palin, you heard it here first.
How did I know ? Well put simply the more I read about her the more perfect she sounded.
The key thing is that McC could pick an unknown, so he would. I am sorry to say, presidential politics are like a soap opera (or maybe a sitcom). After they have been running for a while, the audience gets bored. It is time to introduce a new character. She has a very interesting story that will be good for at least 10 episodes (news cycles).
A note to Dems everywhere; Don’t try to tear her down, don’t make fun of her state or the small town she is from. What we need to do is get the attention back on McCain.

3. I see no problem with trying to |
|
'tear her down'. She has some extreme viewpoints that are out-dated and dangerous and the American people need to know what direction she would ostensibly lead us. Even if she never becomes Prez, she will direct a certain amount of influence in any number of ways on a McLame administration.
Yea, I don't care about the size of Alaska or if she was mayor of Tree Stump, Alaska...I care that she's an out of the mainstream jackass zealot.

6. One way to deal with the news cycle/soap opera |
|
is to point out how a beauty queen was pushed ahead of so many qualified GOP women. We really need to talk to our GOP sisters about that one, about what a slap in the face it is to women like Hutchinson who, while we think she's dead wrong on everything, is so much more qualified for high office.
That should be our meme, right there, and we need to get it out there as much as possible: Magoo's pick was a slap in the face to all intelligent and hardworking GOP women, whether they work for pay or in the home.

And you are absolutely right. The Dems shouldn't even try to touch Palin. Leave her alone and focus on McCain. It was his poor judgment that lead to picking someone wholly unqualified to step in as President.
What happened here at DU should serve a lesson to us all. I was never a big Hillary supporter, though I have always respected her. However, the attacks on here on DU disgusted and angered me to the point that I decided to choose her over Obama, when the time came. There really isn't that much of a difference between them, ideologically speaking. Please don't do the same with Palin to luke-warm Republicans and conservative Democrats who may have been die-hard Hillary supporters. The Obama camp itself is very smart and will do the right thing, but some of his die-hard supporters could stand to follow his example and grace.

5. Tear her down? She is about as low.. |
|
as you can go. No one needs to attack her, her words and action do that all by themselves. Within hours of the announcement there was so much crap percolating up it was astounding. The fact that McCain chose this inept woman is where the wrecking ball destroys the McCain campaign with no help from anyone.

8. What do you think the likelihood that they come out of the convention with a different nominee. |
|
They are very divided and McCain could get the boot. Of course it would be risky for the repubs, but if they know mcsame can't win they may try it.

10. I agree about concentrating on McCain, but to abandon attention being given her is a mistake. |
|
Maybe 65 McCain, 35 Palin - and instead of looks, dumb sayings, Dems should concentrate on the issues. Issues as usual for Dems. Which inlcudes HEAVY attention on her abortion position. Pin her down on stem cell research. Make this issue number one for now - get her talking an locked in.

13. They've accomplished a media blackout on Obama/Biden |

and made all the M$M, as well as us, all about McCain/Palin most of the time. I agree. Go after McCain with a bigger white heat than ever before.
